<{anton}>

This thread...NBR probably cries himself to sleep at night now.

How did most people "Not know" about Eddie? I'm pretty sure anyone watching MMA for the last 3-5 years at minimum would know who he is.

Conor outclassed him in every aspect of martial arts.

" lets watch Conors career for some more years before comparing his career to Eddies."

How many UFC title defenses did Eddie have?

Really? Eddie spent most of his career outside the UFC and you are talking about his title defenses compared to Conors? bellator has very good fighters at 145 and 155.

What I meant with "most People dont know Eddie" is that like about all fighters outside the UFC there were often the classic threads about how everyone in bellator and Eddie is a bum...
Majority of UFC fans have not seen many fights of Eddie and talked/talk him down only because you know "not being UFC".

The same happened with WEC before aquisition, Strikeforce HW..etc. You can be as critic as you like of Eddie but he was the champ in the UFC which puts him in a very exclusive Club
and Held the Bellator title which also means something and had very good fights even before against Hansen, Kawashiri etc when they were top5 opponents.

You just don't understand the premise at all.

There are 2 layers to this post. 1.) I'm predicting Alvarez will win 2.) I cannot understand how people are so cock-sure that Conor wins with ease, when they don't even know Eddie.

I've totally admitted and ate crow for months about getting the prediction wrong, cool, no problem there.

On the other hand, I cannot understand how so many people banter this thread when the main premise still stands true. It's like those who hate Fedor, and always called him a can crusher - imagine those guys predicting Werdum would beat him, without even knowing who Fabricio is. Then Fabricio gets the choke and the W, and then all those bozo's come out and start shouting "see I told you! He's all hype".

You cannot predict fights when you don't know the second party within the fight. If you luck out and Conor wins, then great, you look like a genius now. Reality is, 90% of his fans are just blind, homosexual fanboys.

Analyse the fights and stop sucking dick is my message to those.
I understand the "premise" just fine lol . My point is you were completely wrong in your predictions and assesments of both respective fighters talents. Yet you're still calling people "not in their right mind " for being RIGHT.

Dont be salty that even the newbest MMA fans predicted something you couldnt

That like being a sore loser after the worst player on the court hits a game winning 3 in your face.

Just gotta hold that L.

At least he got to hold the belt. War Eddie.
we've gone from a situation where the division had a clear champion that looked unstoppable, to having a mess at the top with the current champion on maternity leave, the previous champion still hiding his head in shame, and the last clear champion moving to welterweight.

the belt has fked the division completely.

Shitty match-making has fucked the divisions. I love that fighter's are leveraging their value for pay and control but at some point enough is enough. The champ has to defend his belt. The UFC has to assert itself and regain control over it's titles before they lose what little legitimacy remains.

If a fighter just wants to hand pick money fights, that's cool, but step out of the title hunt otherwise you're fucking over the fans, the UFC, and all the other fighters trying to make their ways to the top.

Do you think there's any chance they will scrap the belt system once fighters have a union and a much bigger say in how pay is distributed? sure the champions will want the system to remain because it puts them in the upper pay brackets by default, but will everyone else want to give the lion's share of earnings to champions who manipulate the situation for the betterment of themselves and to the detriment of the sport and every other contender in the division? and if that's not how it will work, then will those who generate interest and therefore PPV buys want to give up money they feel is rightfully there's just so some random TUF scrubs get a "fair deal" ?

That's a good argument, Jeh

I just can't see it happening, fighters enjoy the climb, and being 'The Champ' is a huge marketing boost, and allows for easy PPV sales. And even without a belt, there will remain a ranking system I'm sure, so whoever ever is ranked #1 is essentially the de facto champ, even without a belt.

The division has been ruined by fat boys (khabib and RDA). Khabib has put the fergie fight on hold 3 times now and RDA pulled out of the conor fight. Those 2 screwed up everything.

For sure, they are culpable, but Conor sitting out doesn't exactly help things either. I can give a pass for pulling out due to injuries, its part of the game, but missing weight is being unprofessional and irresponsible.
