Just here for the sake of it.

I'm a huge Eddie Alvarez fan by the way

But I love Lisa Bonet

You couldn't be more wrong.

You must be a total numbskull if you think one bad prediction means you know nothing about the sport.

I called Masvidal to finish Cerrone, Diaz to beat Johnson, Woodley to KO Lawler, Alvarez to KO dos Anjos. So yeah, because I thought Alvarez would beat McGregor, I clearly know nothing about MMA.

I guess all of those fans who thought Rousey would beat Nunes, all do not know an iota about MMA either right? Based off of one bad prediction.

Also, to address your second point - I'm one fan, and all I was pointing out is the cold hard truth, that the vast major of Conor fanboys were picking 1st round KO for McGregor, when they didn't even know who Eddie Alvarez was. Was my prediction an Alvarez win, yes it was, but nowhere in this thread did I ever say oh Eddie will walk through him because of X, Y and Z. The whole point of the thread was to show how stupid these guys are, when they are making predictions on a fight where they don't even know anything about the second competitor. These guys would literally sit there and pick Conor over everyone, without a second thought - just out of blind love for a man.

I was wrong in my prediction, but I was not wrong in the vast majority of my OP statements - very few fans knew who Eddie was and they still don't know him now.

Simple concept to understand when you actually read the OP and don't just jump on the wagon.
U know nothing. Prove u called all those fight. Probley can't cause ur full of shit. And Eddie got lucky against RDA, he won't be in the top 10 for long.

There is a stereotype amongst Sherbros that Conor McGregor fans by large are relatively new to the sport and do not watch much else MMA wise other than him. This point is being proven by the minute, since the announcement of his fight with Eddie Alvarez.

Y'all really never seen Eddie have you? Perhaps 1 or 2 of his fights, right?

You may have seen him lose to Cerrone, his boring win over Pettis or even the dos Anjos TKO...

Michael Chandler? Shinya Aoki? Those names mean anything to you? ... Nah, I didn't think so.

Just for educational purposes, Eddie Alvarez has it fucking ALL!

- The guy has KO power in both hands.
- Crisp, technical boxing.
- Solid wrestling, with very good ability to control from the top position.
- Underrated and sneaky BJJ, takes the back very easily.
- Cardio for days, looks the same in rounds 4 and 5 as the first round.
- Heart for days. Let you knock him down or rock him, if his body lets him he'll keep coming.

People keep saying that Conor will defeat him with ease on the feet...

You do know Eddie's chin is probably just as good as Nate Diaz, you know Nate, the guy that Conor couldn't put away in almost 35 minutes of fighting?

Conor has a chance, he always does when it's standing, but stop talking about Eddie Alvarez like you even know who he is or have followed his career at all.

WAR ALVAREZ!

Even as a huge Conor fan, I agree this needed to be said.

This fence-straddling turncoat might be worse though.

God you are dense, Conor has fought lots of times at 155 outside the UFC

Are you retarded? Do you think any of that counts towards the UFC lightweight rankings?
He was unranked at LW, and got a gift title shot against Eddie who ducked the top contenders.

If you want to bring up outside irrelevant fights, then Khabib is 24-0 at LW. Deal with it.

You're an idiot.

Eddie has had a great career and has always been a well rounded tough fighter.
There were a lot of "fans" that were counting Eddie out because they never saw him fight before the UFC and didn't know much about him.
That was moronic and needed to be pointed out.

Just like your moronic statement is being pointed out right now.

And calling me a fence straddling turncoat ? Why ?
Because I gave a tough veteran fighter credit that was due and thought he had a decent chance at winning ?

There's also a stereotype that all of his fans have a man crush on him - doesn't mean it's true.

Could also turn the page on you and ask what you knew about Conor before he came in to the UFC? I bet a lot of fans from North America didn't know a whole lot about him. As he started to gain more fans and win fights, the only thing they could knock him for fight wise was the fight with Duffy - since he lost to Diaz that's being quickly forgotten about.

It seems like some folk wear it as a badge of honour that if they watched MMA before Conor came over to the States, they're the original HARDCORE FANS and refuse to even appreciate Conor's skills because there are a lot of fans who only watch MMA when he's fighting and they're thrown into that 'nu fan' stereotype.

We all started watching MMA at some point for various reasons; whether it be for a fighter, a fight and maybe in some cases with Conor, people see him at press conferences and are amused by it.

Anyone can claim to have watched the sport since UFC 1 and highlight that they predicted X would beat Z, but you can never be 100% sure who is going to win or that it makes you an expert on the sport because it's so unpredictable, which is the most appealing part of the sport, imo.

There's a lot of trolls on here which is too be expected, but there's also people who genuinely think you're not a real fan of the sport if you didn't watch one fight before Conor signed with the UFC. And if you're having a conversation with someone on here who probably doesn't know much about the sport, why bother going back and forth with them?

It was one of the easiest victories in the history of the UFC, and especially in title fights.

So how was anyone, noob or not, "moronic" for not giving him a chance?

He didn't have a chance, and nothing about his prior accomplishments "needed to be pointed out".

The people who've seen the most of his career should have known this more than anyone. But you have the nerve to call people who gave him no chance "moronic noobs", while you have a Conor avatar.

So it's pretty clear who doesn't know what they're watching.

Analysis was 100% off. It wasn't a lucky shot. Conor tore him apart and Eddie offered no resistance.

Heart = non-existent.
Chin = non-existent.
Wrasslin = non-existent.

Paper champ in front of the GOAT.

Casuals who gave Eddie no chance were 100% right on the money.

I bet the TS hates when this thread keeps getting brought to light, poor bastard heheh.

Just because Conor made it look easy doesn't mean it was crazy to think Eddie would make a go of it.

Yes I gave Conor a better chance of winning of course, but it was not set in stone that Eddie couldn't win.

His fight history shows he has decent boxing that he mixes with TDs,clinch work. He has heart for days, a decent chin, good cardio, scrambling ability and doesn't break under pressure.
That is what you would see from his past fights.

So anyone who knows his history would have logically given him a chance.

Having said that he absolutely didn't display any of that at all.
I'm gonna say that the first knock down not only stunned him physically but also mentally.
He looked shocked at Conor's speed and power and legitimately seemed to be scared.

Nothing in Eddie's fight history would have supported this kind of performance.
