I think the head clash rocked him worse than he let on leaving him ripe for Volk to turn out the lights. That said he wasn't going to win anyway even though he probably wins that third round. Volk would have found a way to get him down in the 4th/5th were his gas tank would really shine.

I was just telling my son this.
I don't think he was that hurt. I think he gave up. Most of those punches on the bottom didn't even get through his arms. Reminded me of Greg Hardy: get hit and just fold and wait for the ref.
