Yair Rodríguez vs Anthony Pettis since Pettis looks to move at FW. Thoughts?

Hard to pick a winner, since I still have to see more of Yair and Pettis hasn't been the same lately. But it would most probably be an amazing fight.

Yair sends him to 135 where Sergio retires older brother

at this point i wouldnt be surpised if anthony gets cut soon. hes a shell of his former self

I like it. Pettis can not afford to loose again

Assuming that Pettis could make the weight without much issue, IMO, Pettis via submission in the first round.

If Pettis is intent on moving to 145, he should first face an aging "name" who ideally is coming off a loss.

True. if he goes 0-4 then I think UFC will get rid of him., because you have to remember he has a very expensive contract, he is still on his championship contract. Can't see UFC keeping him at that price.

Pettis is too much for Yair at this moment. Yair is still growing and isn't on Pettis level.

Well, Yair is fighting Cacares in Salt Lake City in August so it'll be a while till that fight could happen.

They've trained together. So I guess that makes the fight less likely to happen.

I could see it going either way. Yair looked great against Fili and obviously Pettis is on a slide. But Pettis would be Yair's toughest fight to date. I'd pick Pettis to win.

yea they will not want him to leave and fight elsewhere, but they wont want to pay him as much - i think these are good times to use some good old public media manipulation to put some pressure on the situation - maybe dana white criticizes him harshly etc. - pettis is a very marketable guy and if he goes to a bellator and fights maybe some easier fights and gets some flashy kos, his hype will be back

no fcking way the ufc wants him to go but they dont want to admit that as then his perceived value will increase - these are the moments where lots of money is up for grabs for whichever party plays it best

Pettis would murder him most likely.

Yair hasn't faced any top competition yet. Flashy kicks look good against lower level competition. ANd I like him a lot btw.

He should face Guida again to see if a future at 145 is really viable.

People picking yair....

Pettis has looked on the decline against elite competition at 55.

Yair has looked flashy compared to upcoming 45rs, NOT elite 45rs and yairs Flashy kicks work less against someone like pettis who is also decorated in tkd.
Both have weak boxing and but pettis has the advantage due to being used to trade with bigger men.

It just comes down to pettis being far more seasoned than yair.
Yair is getting better with every fight, in 3-4 fights i could see him being a top fw though in the picture for title contention
