The Las Vegas-based WSOF organization will try its hand and promoting amateur MMA fights in 2015.

In addition to hosting a full slate of professional events, MMAjunkie today learned from WSOF President Ray Sefo that the promotion plans to launch a

That sounds like a horrible idea. An Amateur promotion/organization means it does not have to pay its fighters but can still profit from them at shows.

They're working toward the goal of eventually not paying anybody.

WSOF seems to have a lot of unfinished projects. I just wish they would figure out how to give us a reliable prelim stream.

I'll never be a fan of amateur MMA. Now i understand why there was amateur boxing (olympics/world champs etc) but amateur MMA just seems like a way for promoters to make money while not paying the fighters.

I'm sure there may be some good reasons (for the fighters) i just don't see it.

i dont like the idea. theyll weed out fighters. have eyes on good prospects with no pay

Why do you need an amateur league for fighters to prove themselves?

Amateur MMA = horse shit. Nobody should be getting punched in the face for free.

I see them using the profit they make off these shows to add on in purses on the actual cards
