So yeah, bascially shooting for a takedown in the first seconds of the fight, that's a great way to finish the fight asap

If he had leaned into him against the cage he would have been fine, going for the slam was what sunk it in.

That gif is from 1:30 into the fight. So in your esteemed opinion, how long should one wait before shooting?
I, as proud Sherdogger, would stand and bang the whole fight... But I think that guy should stand at least the first sweat is coming, just to be safe, not to put yourself in to that choke.

Instead of slamming him, he shoud have jumped as high as Beth Correia. There’s no way anyone could hang on with that kind of vertical acceleration.

You don’t grapple do you?

Shooting for takedowns is fine as long as you don’t lead with your head. If you have upright posture and are glued to their legs/hips they can’t gullotine you.

Now that being said, as a wrestler going into BJJ myself I used to get choked all the fucking time till I got used to it dealing with the choke as I shot.

An even bigger mistake is when people who have never trained a day in their life criticize professional fighters.

The wrestler also leaves himself vulnerable to being DDT'd..

As beautifully demonstrated by Emerson here...

Same here. It was frustrating to break habits. The hardest was not leaving a hand on the mat when on top.
