A bunch of fucking degenerates on here.
Obviously I do not drink these days but years and years ago back in my apostate days I would, on rare occasions, partake with friends. Once or twice I drank beer and it just didn't seem worth it. Downing shots was much more fun, there's just a certain intensity to the experience that make its more enjoyable than sipping on beer which tastes bland and doesn't get you intoxicated.

@Deorum is 100% correct, if you're going to drink then be a man and drink something that will get you fucked within a few shots instead of pussyfooting around with bread water. So from where I stand you guys are the squares.
Hey, at least we’re trying, nerd. Also, Miller High Life is delicious with a shot of tequila.

Hope everyone is watching this master class of a UFC heavyweight fight.

Great read imo

Would make a good thread..... if only.....

It shows the hypocrisy of those on the right who cry about censorship but it also touches on a shift among the right over the last few years
In the specific case of Hannah-Jones and UNC, the objective is to intimidate those who might share her views by showing that such views could cost them a job. As the conservative writer and aspiring politician J. D. Vance put it in a speech to the Claremont Institute, “If you’re fighting the values and virtues that make this country great, then the conservative movement should be about nothing if not reducing your power and if necessary destroying you.” The traditional argument between American liberals and conservatives is over what problems the state can or should remedy; the position of the Trumpist GOP is that the state is an instrument for destroying your enemies—by which its members simply mean Americans who disagree with them.
Reminds me of the dispute between David French and Sohrab Ahmari over the direction of the conservative movement going forward.
The dispute centered around their differing opinions on how conservatives should approach cultural and political debate, with Ahmari deriding what he calls "David French-ism", a political persuasion he defines as believing "that the institutions of a technocratic market society are neutral zones that should, in theory, accommodate both traditional Christianity and the libertine ways and paganized ideology of the other side". He argues that this belief leads to an ineffective conservative movement, and contends that the best way for culturally conservative values to prevail in society is a strategy of "discrediting...opponents and weakening or destroying their institutions", which he maintains is a tactic already utilized by progressives, leaving conservatives who adhere to the David French-style of politics impotent in what he views as a raging culture war in the United States. He argues that the political realm should be viewed as one of "war and enmity", and that the power of the government should be directly utilized to impose culturally conservative values on society.
For a while I've been thinking about making a thread framed around this issue, of which approach is best for conservatives to get a feel for how some of the right wing posters feel. I get the feeling most posters here on the right are more sympathetic to Ahmari's view but most of them aren't really consciously thinking it through, its just that their reactionary tendencies lead them in that direction. Arguing for it out loud though tends to be bad optics so most won't actually articulate their view in the aggressive way that Ahmari does.

@Denter is the one exception of the top of my head, he's seems willing and able to espouse the kind of argument Ahmari is here without much care for the optics which is what makes him stand out. Tbh I sort of get it on some level, Ahmari's point that some progressives view it that way seems true based on my anecdotal experience. I've seen certain online spaces for left wing content creators where you have tankies who deny and obfuscate on the Uighur issue but G-d forbid you're socially conservative, that's a bridge too far and you must be deplatformed.
