@Sketch congrats on bein off yellows, I hardly recognized you.
Thanks bro. Was surprised they even gave them to me lol. What’s funny is I’ll be here longer than the mod who put them on me, and they all go on my list for handing them out.

Just because something makes for a better TV series does mean we have to pretend said TV series is making a relevant or interesting point. The fact of the matter is a network decided to make a TV series based off a decade old book and said TV series is actually popular despite the message of the novel being very outdated. Why is that? As an answer to that question I think his point there is a good one, that the reason this outdated novel is popular today is because it offers that nostalgia for the present.

A series about how markets are sucking the life out of us, especially one that deals with that issue the context of falling birth rates and the atomization of social life, would be something I'd love to watch personally.

Why is that? Because it’s entertaining and while there is still enough of a battle around the culture wars on things like choice that it’s relevant for some people, I don’t think that’s the driver of its popularity. The 1950s dystopia is an easier good vs bad which is why it works for TV. I guess his point that it somehow translates into progressives wanting to fight old battles is true for some SJWs, but again it’s progressives that have been fighting the economic battles.
