The fact of the matter is a network decided to make a TV series based off a decade old book and said TV series is actually popular despite the message of the novel being very outdated. Why is that? Why is that? Because it’s entertaining and while there is still enough of a battle around the culture wars on things like choice that it’s relevant for some people, I don’t think that’s the driver of its popularity. The 1950s dystopia is an easier good vs bad which is why it works for TV. I guess his point that it somehow translates into progressives wanting to fight old battles is true for some SJWs, but again it’s progressives that have been fighting the economic battles.
