Fair enough. I honestly wasn't thinking of going back that far. Hell, we could go back much, much further, yet I was thinking of more recent trends. Having said that, living memory is a fair yardstick as to what has a meaningful effect on current topics.

Well, maybe his bouts of sanity just made the meltdowns more annoying then. Though I did find that when he was calm his positions were fairly milquetoast, that his highest political priority was fighting a boogeyman, and his opinion of other posters came more from their tone rather than their content.

All that points to political engagement for the wrong reasons, to me.
 
Everyone takes stuff so seriously sometimes. Hell im guilty of it myself. Its just a subforum of an underground karate forum. Cheer up fellas its a beautiful day.

It doesn't bother me. I know he's just trying to protect his ego or whatever. But I'm pointing out that it's a shitty way to argue. This place is supposed to be about hashing out disagreement rather than just writing off anyone who doesn't agree with you as being impossible to discuss things with.

Thanks for these. All I meant to say in the other thread was that the common interpretation of inflation might not be in line with the technical metric, so when people connect a political headline (heavy stimulus) to their personal experience (rising gas prices) that could end up being their interpretation. A bunch of companies explicitly disclosing plans to raise prices probably muddied the waters too.

All I know is I keep hearing about lumber and it even made its way into one of Noah's recent posts lol.


And speaking of hearing about things I just left the house to check the mail and my 70-year old neighbour who I've rarely talked to asked me if I was following Israel-Palestine! "You should watch the news because stuff over there affects us here too!" lmao.

I told her shit was getting people banned but I'm not sure she understood.
