The American right is ideologically and ethically indistinguishable from - or, better yet, definitively less politically defensible than - conservatives in Arab and African countries. The thing is.....those foreign conservatives have an excuse on the basis of largely not having access to great education and not having instantaneous access to all the information in the world through high-speed internet.

I dunno. I don't read most threads. I appreciate when a good poster says, "hey look at this" or something in the Lounge. Likewise, I sometimes would rather see what a Lounge regular thinks about a story than a bunch of idiots.

Pointing to other people’s posts without them having a chance to reply though isn’t healthy discourse. If their point truly is dumb enough, there wouldn’t be much reason to talk about it with others even imo. It’s too pretentious and gives some credence to the safe space label. That being said, I think that label is dumb and inaccurate.
