Obligatory smoking on that fat Fawlty pack
Just had a blast of Richie Maldonado. A little sour and a full joint is best but gets you fucked up, as it were.
So, as promised, tonight was the scene of a dining experience I am so grateful to have consumed I am compelled to share it with y'all.
As pictured,
"Appetizer
Odamaki-mushi (Steamed Fish Soup and Egg with Shiitake Mushroom, Shrimp, Imitation Crab, Nanohana and Udon)
Entree
Island Bluefin Tuna Steak with garlic shoyu and Deep-fried Tuna Temaki Sushi
(Island Bluefin Tuna Steak, Vegetables, Deep- fried Tuna Sushi)
Dessert
Castella cake with matcha ice cream & Strawberry coulis."
The appetizer upstaged everything else and stole the show, IMHO. It looked so gorgeous I hesitated to dig in right away and that gave the aroma time to meet my nose. It was incredible. There was so much going on in that initial inhale it was indescribable. I have to leave it to your imagination based on the ingredients as listed above. Words don't do it justice; it was that good that I believed I was about to consume a once in a lifetime experience. And then I got to the eating of it and the taste was every bit a match for the anticipation brought on by its aroma. The dashi (with its egg suspension) was rich and wholesome like it came from grandma's house in the fishing village--with a dash of sweetness to comfort the grandchildren whom she loves to spoil. The noodles were pure perfection as each of the other ingredients were a significant contribution to the dish. Chunky Soup could take some new lessons on what a soup that eats like a meal is like.
The main course, what can I say? I mean, blue fin tuna steak. My mouth is still watering. And the veggies were well done also, like they were cooked in the jus of a high end steak. The nori of the temaki was delightfully crisp and everything inside tasted as fresh as if it came from a Japanese town's market square.
And finally, desert was so refreshing I could do it all over again. The ice cream was just what you might expect, smooth, creamy, but with that outdoor matcha taste that leaves you feeling like you've just been on a walk in a cool spring breeze where you can smell the newly sprung grass.
Put simply, it was one of the finest meals I have ever had. Please come to PEI and see for yourself the culinary experiences we have to offer #tourismneedsyou #fuckcovid
