and let's be clear. this movie sucked.

It does but it's so stupid it's funny.

Like if you watch little Nicky thinking about how these fools were trying to make the worst movie ever it makes it hilarious.

The Program was a bit more rough and gritty and I related to it more. Haven't seen either in years, so both might come off as a bit juvenile nowadays I imagine.

All in all, Pacino's "game of inches" speech is probably the best component out of any football movie out there. Unless, of course, if you're more of a Replacements guy and the jail scene gets you grooving. And that's all good, all 'good'. o_O That movie is a guilty pleasure of mine. Lol

The Replacements is seriously so good at what it sets out to do imo.

In terms of "serious" football movies....I don't think I've seen one that I thought was very good. If you want to be serious, you have to really convince the viewer that what's happening is realistic. For football, that requires a pretty exacting conformity to the game's rules and norms, which are known to football fans but not always known to writers, directors, actors, etc. And the actors have to be convincing in the the football motions. I thought Playmakers, the ESPN football drama series, was decent, but there were some moments that jolted my disbelief: namely the quarterback throwing the ball like a dainty Englishman and the absurd proposition that an NFL team would offer first round picks for a 31 year old backup halfback. You also have to persuade the audience to become really invested in the turmoils of very rich people.

I can't remember if I liked the Friday Night Lights movie, which is unfortunate since I really liked the book when I read it growing up.

His dick was stuck in a chicken. Lol.

One of the best movies for quotes and quips of all time.

Ed: quoted the wrong post

@LazaRRus I kinda don't get why Tacko Fall is still being G-leagued (and on how he was so disrespected on draft day).

His stats in pro games tell the story of a highly impactful player.

His per-36 stats are: 19 points, 14 rebounds, 5 blocks, 72% FG. Like...what?! I get that there is a lot of garbage time in there, but shit.

I just want to point out that both of my daughters, 4 1/2 and 2 1/2, insisted this morning on wearing their denim jackets, and as always wanted to listen to Hair Nation as I drove them to school. Brings a tear to my eye, I tell ya.

Agreed. It's a fun little movie about an odd set of circumstances that allowed some misfits to live their dream, if only for a short while. Not everything needs to be a sweeping saga.

I can see why...I mean, even thought Black Hawk Down was a beautifully done film, it is dwarfed by the book.

I'll have to give it a read, Lone Survivor

Never read Black Hawk Down, but the movie was intense. As far as Lone Survivor, I'm just not a super fan of Berg's erratic directing style or the way his films are edited. I really enjoyed the Rundown though. But Lone Survivor just kinda wound up being a Mark Wahlberg movie. Same with Patriot's Day. From somebody who has worked on Boylston Street for 13 years and followed that case and trial very closely, that movie was fucking bullshit.

How many of you played weight football growing up?

I remember being like 9 years old and having to cut weight to play with kids 2 years older than me...

"Everybody grab some water, except you Polish. Put on the plastic bag and take a lap."
No. Ours was all by age. Somehow I ended up playing with kids two years older than me.
