I actually thought/think he was more honest and reasonable than a lot of posters here. Of course, he had that...fixation, and he wasn't very bright, but he wasn't exceptionally hateful IIRC.

I noticed in that thread about the Canadian dad that had a court order against him on behalf of his trans daughter, that the Dad made the horrific claim that a psychologist was encouraging kids to make/claim suicide attempts in order to fast track the approval for hormone treatments. Allegedly because he's a pro-transexual activist.
The evidence though seemed to amount to, "he's gay".

There is no chance that a "P" will be added, they already attempted that.

However, there is a real concern about infiltration by individuals (as with virtually any other organization or institution). Activism also draws particular personality types and so incredibly few us are or ever were involved in it. I probably would've rocked with ACT UP (1987-95) back in the day though.

One cannot live in the reality-based community and pretend these connections are not actively being created and reinforced at every juncture or the meme that "phile = gay" isn't an effective tool the right has used to stymied LGBT progress, for decades. The LGBT community has been abundantly clear they abhor this group, which (Pat) Buchanan would know if he were familiar with anything but stereotypes and demagoguery. GLAAD and the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force (NGLTF) issued statements of condemnation 17 years ago.

In 1994, GLAAD said it "deplores the North American Man Boy Love Association's (NAMBLA) goals, which include advocacy for sex between adult men and boys and the removal of legal protections for children. These goals constitute a form of child abuse and are repugnant to GLAAD."

NGLTF adopted a resolution on NAMBLA that said: "NGLTF condemns all abuse of minors, both sexual and any other kind, perpetrated by adults. Accordingly, NGLTF condemns the organizational goals of NAMBLA and any other such organization."

In 1997, the Human Rights Campaign said that "NAMBLA is not a gay organization. They are not part of our community and we thoroughly reject their efforts to insinuate that philia is an issue related to gay and lesbian civil rights."
