A little strange huh? I'd even think story/saffedeine would headline before them

Honestly I'd have put Aljo vs Caraway as the main event, Almeida/Garbrandt and Barao/Stephens aren't going the distance, I doubt Aljo vs Caraway will either but there's a much better chance of it.

Both Garbrandt and Almeida are very marketable, and Stephens/Barao Story etc have already had their day in the sun.

Two years ago people would have dismissed this card as being oversaturation.

This card is stacked with up and coming talent.

Honestly the fact that that this card has 3-4 fights that could easily headline a free card is not something to be upset about.

These fights could all be the main event:
Saffiedine vs Story
Almeida vs Garbrandt
Barao vs Stephens

We also get Aljo vs Caraway.

And Lorenz Larkin vs Jorge Masvidal has some serious potential for a great fight.

Great free card.

Great card, but it would be a great main card with:

Almeida vs Garbrandt
Sterling vs Caraway
Stephens vs Barao
Saffidiene vs Story

If this card had a decent headliner like RDA-Alvarez you can almost make it a PPV

Barao couldn't sell two community park bleachers worth of seats. No mystery why he isn't headlining.

Forgot Masvidal x Larkin was on this card. That fight has me drooling. Going to be an absolute striking war.

So many wrong answers!

It's because they are attempting to build young contenders at 135 and they both are undefeated.

I'm surprised that they are even facing each other now. The UFC kept Velasquez and Dos Santos away from each other for a couple of years.

i feel whoever wins the main event is probably a future champion

Almeida and Garbrandt both have pretty good potential to become the next best contender in their division. I can understand why they would put them above Barao/Stephens only for their undefeated records as the other sherbro said.

There are some pretty sick matchups on this upcoming card, plenty of finishes me thinks :)

Pretty stoked to see Burkman/Felder on the card as well, for however long it lasts I expect a straight WAR. We also get Vitor Miranda, Saff, Horror Story, Koch's return, ALJO!

This is the first time in a while where two 'actual' up and coming prospects are facing off against each other, they are both undefeated and can both end a fight, its a great main event.

Also recently Barao has looked terrible and is fighting up a division, who know's how he will perform, its not a main event.

Badass card for sure. Almeida and Gabrandt are both exciting up and coming fighters, why wouldnt they be headlining?

Why not ? 2 upcoming and great fighters ... clash of styles and for sure it will a great fight

Better, more fan-friendly and exciting fight (on paper). Chances are, Barao might look like shit.

They are building the name of the next contender imo. Whoever wins is close to a title shot.

If they wanted to build up 135lb prospects Aljo shouldn't be on fightpass prelims for the second fight in a row.

Yeah that is kinda dumb. I don't think I've seen either guy fight before and I'm a hardcore fan. If I was a casual id be more likely to tune in if the main event contained Barao or Story, tbh.

Before you guys jump all over me, I work every Saturday so I miss a lot of the prelim and early main card fights, so I go back and watch the ones I care about. It usually takes a notable win before I notice up and coming prospects.
