That backs up my point to a tee. It is not a question of "will you buy the fight" - heck, 95% of people here are degenerates and will pirate anyways - but "will you follow it". The haters crying now and saying "Wahhh! I will stop watching MMA if Conor rematches Dustin (after he broke his leg in a freak accident)'' will 100% watch and will also have their shite posting gif packs ready to go as soon as he loses. If he wins tho, they will cry, say it was unfair, and bombard the UFC's twitter and the forums with empty threats of how they will never buy another UFC (even tho they never buy the events) and how "UFC has lost all credibility" (as if it ever had any and Conor's rematch was the straw that finally broke the camel's back!).
There have been FAR worse things to happen in the UFC's history than Conor McGregor (1st champ-champ, still lineal FW champ, most successful athlete on planet earth in 2020) getting a rematch after he broke his leg in a freak occurrence to a man he already beat. Here is a short list of things that were as bad or worse:
- "BMF" belt
- Gus getting a TS after getting KO'd
- Matt Riddle cut for smoking weed
- Diaz banned for years over weed
- Jones failing 100 tests and then USADA having the rule book rewritten for him
- Allowing Jones to "pulse" on steroids while guys like Machida were banned for years over vitamins
- Nicco Montano being "champ"
- Journey man Jorge getting a title rematch even tho he got whooped before, never beat that fighter and was was never a champ
-Reebok power ranger outfits, depriving fighters of sponsorship money
-CM Punk getting two fights in the UFC when Fedor got none
- GDR being stripped immediately because she refused to fight Cyborg, the same fighter Ronda refused to fight while Dana applauded her
- Dana lying all the time
- Brock getting a title shot after one win and having a record of 2-1
- ESPN+ era (quantity over quality)
- Ngannou having an interim created in days after winning the title because he wanted to defend in September and not August
- Aldo calling the cops on USADA, spilling his piss and then USADA having to contact CABMMA and give them a 24 hour notice before they are going to test Brazilian fighters (same people that asked Aldo for an autograph)
- Paul Daley banned forever for cheap shotting Kos while Khabib spit on a beaten opponent, attacked innocent corner men, had his team start a riot and attacked said beaten fighter with impunity.
Just be honest, folks: if the aforementioned did not trigger you to leave MMA, then Conor rematching Dustin (title or not) will not do it. For all this talk of "Conor only had aura when whooping people", then why did his biggest PPV sales come off of losses (Khabib fight post Mayweather and Poirier 3)?
