It would be a massive pay cut... so no. Plus I enjoy my brain (such as it is).

Not worth it unless you a champ. You need to make generational wealth to risk CTE, IMO.

I grew up doing kickboxing, starting at age 5. I started training with Joe Stevenson in 2010 or 2011, along with Dominick Reyes' older brother Alex. At the time, MMA wasn't paying well at all, you basically had to be an Anderson Silva caliber fighter to make a good living under it. I ended up getting out of it because of how unlikely it is for someone to not only make it to the UFC, but to be elite. However, now that I've had time to reflect, it was a good decision to get out of it not because of the money, but because I never got a rush or a high from kicking people in the head. I trained for a major portion of my life but I never enjoyed the act of hitting people, and that mentality will get you killed if you're going up against a guy who would relish smashing your skull in.

Right. Like a Jeremy Stephen’s type or lawlor. If that’s not your mental make up dont do it

no way in hell. there are far easier ways to earn a buck than getting my face caved in.

but i don't mind watching someone else do it.

No unless I was so good at what I did that I took relatively little brain damage (Silva, Khabib, DJ, etc.) and still made lots of money to make the long hours of weight-cutting and training worth it.

Average fighter on the UFC roster? No thanks.

This. I want to be the LeBron of fighting or not do it at all

i am an mma fighter, i just don't compete because the risk of getting CTE / brain damage will affect my ability to run the business i own

Only started watching to learn from it (took a few years to watch it for entertainment, during times of long-term injury or work getting in the way of training), so yeh.
I was surprised when I found out most MMA fans didn't get into it via interest in participation.

when i was younger for sure because i didn't give a shit. i just wanted to smash people. but fighting in the amateur scene i realized there is a lot of bullshit involved in MMA. like one of the guys i fought his coach was one of the judges in our fight, they'd call you on short notice to fight somebody who has been training for weeks, if you weren't associated with one of the big gyms you'd basically be fighting an uphill battle against their guys.

life happened and i got a normal job and i realized once i hit my 30s that it was a way better decision. you could diminish yourself for literally nothing doing the sport unless the stars align for you. even the superstars of the sport had to be extremely lucky on top of being good for their careers to turn out the way they did.

All of you wanted to be Pride Fc fighters, then UFC fighters. But after 2 months of training jiu-tsu, Kickboxing, etc, everyone changed his mind and started practising MMA on PlayStation 3, right? Yeah, I know...

no , I am 107 kg and my category would be HW and I don't want to take those heavy punches on my face.
I wrestled for year , I can continue doing it for fun but taking punches are not a smart idea for me

Heck no. Everyone on this forum who has spent time in any grappling room and boxed even the least little bit knows it takes a particular type of crazy, and tough, to do this at the highest levels. I got nothing for those dudes, absolutely nothing. I believe the classic line of "you'll do nothing" fully applies to me. I'm not scared, but I know I ain't that guy.
