Would You Want See Bellator Acquire WSOF Fighter Contracts

Shields, Palhares, Fitch? Lima gets beat by all three. Do we really want to see that?

Okami versus Halsey would be fun.

Interesting take on it, I think Okami over Halsey is much more likely (and less fun) than the above three. I would bet on Okami.

Lima on the other hand I think would beat all 3 of the guys you listed, with tough fights as a maybe very small underdog in Vegas to Shields and Palhares, but i'd bet that he would smash Fitch; and yes i'd love to watch.

With Lima being a 26 and Fitch (36) Shields (35) and Palhares(34), he is improving while they are slowing down, he could make a name for himself off them potentially.

You really think Bellator is going to spend the type of cash to just take the roster?

SpikeTV isn't giving Bellator that much money to blow. To be honest?

I'd rather see JG/Moraes in the UFC and then you got Shields, Palhares, Fitch? Lima gets beat by all three. Do we really want to see that? Okami/Branch versus Halsey would be fun.

I just don't think that WSOF has the names that Bellator wants/needs to grow. So would Bellator really break the bank to sign them?

Doubtful.

If it went under I'd assume some would head to UFC and then a few would be signed by Bellator.

I'd assume UFC would take most the ones that matter. Obviously Bellator doesn't have the funding to just purchase WSOF.

Thats the thing, how much would they want? Unlike Pride/SF WSOF doesnt have the star names to make it really worth it.

What they do have which Bellator needs is some depth for their div. Spong at LHW and he can do Glory as well. Okami/Branch, Elvis gives them some MW. WW gets really good with Burkman, FItch, Shields, FOrd and palhares though Ford cant leave Canada so they might not use him in Bellator.

Newell, Melvin, Justin at LW, Glenn, Palmer at FW, Moraes at BW, Rama and Mocco at HW.

So they would get some fresh contenders but no huge name stars. WOuld Viacom spend the money? Would the UFC?

Bellator needs them more than UFC, I think UFC would pick up a few contracts like Justin, Jag, Glenn and Moraes, maybe if Okami, shields, Melvin, palhares got some wins and Palhares showed he wont hold subs long they would take them back.

I dont agree Lima gets beat by all three, I think all three would be good fights for Lima to tell us where he is at. His striking and leg kicks could do damage.

I'd rather see them acquire Ali's contract and bring him into the bella-fold.

WSOF is on NBC and NBC Sports. I don't think they're going under.

There is talk in the MMA world that the WSOF isn't getting as much as it would seem they would get from NBC. Also if WSOF went under and Bellator bought them out more fighters would get a chance to fight there than the UFC. If the UFC acquired them I can't see them keeping more than 20% of the roster which is like 30 fighters.

I think the WSOF lasts through 2015 this ppv revenue sharing plan will be given time and if it doesn't go well then in 2016 I think you'll start hearing about it being bought out or shutting down.

For what? There is no value in WSOF aside from Moraes and Gaethje. Who else is there that's worth money to obtain their contracts?? With ELITE XC purchase you had Lawler, Diaz etc. WSOF has nothing to offer.

It would be a nice power play move on Bellator's part to show they mean business. Plus it would help them out a lot for next year when they go to basically a show a month model. They'd at least have some interesting match ups they could make over the year. Right now I can think of a handful of match ups in Bellator with the current roster that I'm even interested in seeing.

On the contrary I would actually like WSOF acquire Bellator contracts as WSOF is willing to be a feeder org to the UFC or just have the UFC acquire them all.

No, why put Bellator under as well? Makes ZERO sense to put these guys under contract. Give them fights if you can, but they don't need to be made Bellator Only employees.

Yeah, they could put some great fights together with the WSOF fighters.

WSOF is on NBC and NBC Sports. I don't think they're going under.

WSOF is doing a lot of similar moves to that of ProElite back in the day. Their promotion, EliteXC, had deals with Showtime and CBS and still managed to fold. They had bigger names as well. They also purchased 3 or 4 other promotions before being folded.

For what? There is no value in WSOF aside from Moraes and Gaethje. Who else is there that's worth money to obtain their contracts?? With ELITE XC purchase you had Lawler, Diaz etc. WSOF has nothing to offer.

I wouldn't say nothing, but nothing to go crazy over. EliteXC had a lot of big stars, like Gina Carano and Kimbo Slice. There was a lot of buzz created with just those two alone, but they had a lot of good fights with names, that had value. That said, the EliteXC purchase happened due to a domino of events, mainly due to Frank Shamrock signing exclusive contracts with two promotions, which led to the co-promotions and that led to an eventual purchase. They also got a good TV deal out of it, but the 50% ownership group backing out, really was the demise of Strikeforce. If only Viacom would have purchased Strikeforce, things would be a lot more interesting in the MMA landscape.

Yeah, they could put some great fights together with the WSOF fighters.

They can still put on great fights together, without having to purchase the promotion. Would it be easier to purchase them and then co-promote? Of course. Is it worth it? I don't know, but I would lean towards no. It's not like these fighters in WSOF have been growing for years. All the stars they have, all could have been signed by Bellator as well. Bellator can easily go about signing talent and developing them. For exciting bouts, they can go about co-promotion or simply share fighters here and there with other promotions.

If anything, WSOF was once upon a time willing to co-promote with Bellator and I still think they would be, but Coker would only do so, if they had the upper hand and they can simply wait it out with WSOF. If WSOF does get desperate, they will definitely make it known and they may be very close to that point now, with all the talk about PPV. If the NBC deals were so sweet, they wouldn't even consider PPV at this point, but that raises some red flags for me. Time will tell of course.

Would You Want See Bellator Acquire WSOF Fighter Contracts?

Yes.

cody Bollinger is allowed to fight outside of wsof

With fighters complaining about not being given fights they need to do this or release them.

Gonna also be interesting with Bellator doing less events what their roster looks like, they cant keep everyone and give everyone fights if they are gutting out 10 events next year.

These smaller orgs like Titan or WSOF sign a bunch of guys and then dont have the events to get them all fights.

lol at mention Gathje but not mention Palhares and Okami that both would probably beat any welter or middleweight from Bellator

I hope the WSOF keeps having their own shows. They have some good talent and Bellator is cutting back their shows anyway. I like having more MMA, not less.

Without tournaments, and with wanting to do shows that on some level compete with the UFC, it's pretty much an absolute necessity at this point... I hope they do, yes.
