Watching the Nate vs Conor fight got me curious. Conor looked to be going down any second and decided to go for the takedown and get sub'd rather then get knocked out. My question is would you have done the same thing? Is losing by sub less worse than losing by KO? Does being KO'd hurt more or less than getting choked out ?

Sub is way better...been watching combat sports for 3 decades now and nearly every fighter I've seen get KO'd just isnt the same anymore. It's why I put money down on Weidman V Silva 2.

I think quite a few guys got submitted and still came back and had a great run prior to getting KO'd. Tim Sylvia comes to mind...Arlovski rocked him then tapped him out but Tim came back and had a pretty solid run for a few years albeit the most hated guy in the UFC at the time.

Tap. I'd rather not have a few years taken off of my life lol.

McGregor was done. So a sub is better I guess. But it was a bad night all around

Submission loss is better than a wicked concussion.

A KO hurts physically much worse later on than getting choked out.

Literally when you wake up from a choke, you feel no pain whatsoever. Just a little confused. lol

I would rather get subbed any day unless it was a heelhook from Mr. Harris.

Getting KOd sucks. It really scrambles the old egg.

Getting roughed up and having to tap to a joint lock or choke is 1000% better (except under very specific circumstances, ie. A little Incredible Hulk looking MFer who doesn't give a shit about your tap and is wants to bring your leg home with him to meet his family).

What if the submission goes the way like Tater's sub on Holy? Holy was out for a second. Could that be more dangerous then a KO from punches?

It's worse when you submit... because you are giving up/tapping out/quitting.

Getting KO'd, you aren't quitting, sometimes you just get caught on the button and get knocked out, and want a re-match just like Jose Aldo. You can't say it was a fluke when you get submitted and tap out. So tapping out is a definitive loss.

every time

I'd rather get KO'd stiff and have a seizure on the ground than tap like a bitch

I'm gonna say getting knocked unconscious is way more damaging than a momentary loss of circulation to the brain. But I aint a doctor

Everyone will pick sub. Conor didnt go to the ground to get sub'd, he needed to change the dynamic of the fight when he couldnt stand with nate.

Tapping is humiliating but smarter. Extends your career.

Getting KO'ed especially after absorbing after shots is courageous but dangerous and career shortening. Once that chin is gone. It's gone.

Plus ground fighters end up having higher quality lives in old age. The whole brain not slamming against the skull thing helps.

KO = brain trauma ..obvious choice is to tap.

Also, getting KO'd = getting shoop'd on sherdog.com

If u think tapping is better think about that...

Obviously tap. Only Roy Nelson would volunteer to get KO'd unconscious.
