Would you rather be a pro fighter or a pro skateboarder?

Uh yeah, it became an Olympic sport in 2020. Those guys make waaay more money now than they ever did in the 90’s. It’s very much still a thing.

There is no way its bigger than the 90s. Who are some of the big names these days? I don't ever hear about it or see it on TV.

It's not.

It was huge in the 80s.
Dropped off a lot in the early 90s
X games and Tony Hawk 900 in late 90s gave it a huge surge
Early 2000s it was massive
Since then it's dropped a lot in popularity and exposure

I'm not really into skateboarding so I'd pick pro fighter I guess.

skateboarder in the 90s early 2000s, pro fighter outside of that.

Is skateboarding still a thing? I know it blew up in the 90s and early 2000s with the Tony Hawk video games and Jackass.. but I haven't heard anything about it at all since.

You're probably just old now and not in the social circles that would hear/talk about it.

I did the circuit back when skateboarding was a big deal in the late 90s and it was amazing. It was a competition but it mostly just felt like getting paid to hang with friends and listen to good tunes. My knees and wrists are fucked now but it's sure better than someone trying to take your head off.

Both are too dangerous. I would want to be an NFL kicker if I had it to do over again; get all the glory, money, and groupies that comes with NFL players, and you don't get CTE.

Both. I'd do skateboard fights inside a cage. Kind if like this but more elaborate

Here is an article.. a couple of years old but says I'm not that far off:

https://www.goskate.com/top/declining-popularity-of-skateboarding/

  • Fewer people are looking for skateboards and skate parks online than ever before, as shown by the fact that skateboarding searches on Google are decreasing.
  • Industry studies show skateboarding involvement is down for nearly every age group, including the youth.
  • Participation in skateboarding has declined. In the past ten years, parks are less crowded than they have ever been.
  • Skateboarding companies are closing.

Wonder what these numbers are like today.

If you could choose, which would you pick, and why?
Skateboarder.
If my skateboard had a motor.
You see, I could fly off the skateboard and clothesline someone.
If the skateboard was especially large I could put a Bollywood star on it who would sing songs.
Also, an electric skateboard has no carbon emissions.

You can tell just by the few number of skaters u see in public these days. They used to be everywhere, even when they could be arrested for it.

^ all great points. Especially the Bollywood singer.

Kickers get no groupies lmfao. Still a pretty sweet gig though. I always thought being a backup QB would be great also. You’re getting paid handsomely to be available just in case. You barely have to do anything.

Proskater has always been my dream life long so it'd have to be that. I never got into fighting until WAYYYY later.

It's fuckin crazier than it's ever been. got fucking 11 year olds doing the 900 ez pz.

It went through a dark period in the 2010s when cali-homos brought the long boards out creating a whole new wave of posers and women skaters, but Japan brought back skateboarding in the main stream and upped the ante
