It's the man's fault for a having a little yappy dog in the first place. Get a real dog and you wouldn't be having this issue. If he came out with a GSD or a doberman those ladies would have been more respectful.

What's the legal precedent on dogs attacking people after being attacked by said people? Can a dog claim self defense?

Police are involved
The kickers claim that the man with the dogs attacked their grandmother first because she accidentally ran over one of his plants and that's when things escalated to what you see on video

Dog has liver damage
 
It depends.

I know how to control my dog, but if I mess up and he attacks someone, then I fucked up and I can't fault someone for making moves in defense.

If my dog is at ease and not aggressive and someone makes a move to attack my dog, I will piledrive their head on the street
 
I had a wannabe rapper that used to hang around my street corner try to kick my dog when he was a puppy, like couple months old. Unfortunately for him, the guy walking my dog was a former Brave CF champion. Wannabe rapper ended up with his jaw broken in multiple places and a broken nose. I saw him again a few months later, he still wasn’t fully recovered and hurt him some more. Never saw him after that. Felt good.

But yeah, if you try to hurt my dogs I’ll dose my violence so I won’t go to jail, but chances are high that my dogs will maul you (pit/malinois mix and dogo argentino/ french mastiff mix).
