Would you be ok with fighters getting paid significantly more if that meant most fighters only fought about once every 18-24 months and the quality of the fights deteriorated significantly?

Dana’s stance on fighters’ pay has been that if fighters made more than they do now, they would have no need to fight nearly as often as they currently do and the quality of the fights would significantly deteriorate. What are your thoughts?

When did Dana say that?

I think pay should go up a little, but they should be more generous with bonuses or make them more enticing so fighters goafter it

That's the most pathetic, failed excuse I have ever heard, and it really makes him look even more guilty of burning the fighters.

That's basically admitting that the fighters are underpaid; he is saying "They are underpaid because..." then making an explanation that no reasonable person would believe.

The fighters would fight MORE if you gave them more money; the opposite is true. Dana is losing it saying things like this; he is no longer even a half-way good con man.

I keep telling my boss he shouldn't pay me more, or else I'd just stop working. It's how all business works.

Honestly, we should just reduce the minimum wage so people will work harder

Fighters are generally not smart with their money, so even with the higher pay they’ll probably still need to fight more anyway to keep up with their lifestyle improvements.

This is a ridiculous hypothetical. Just look at other sports. Did Floyd Mayweather rack up 50 professional fights because he was broke? How many players in the ball sports retire after making tens of millions of dollars off of their rookie contracts?

Why is there always threads about fighter pay? I don't see many fighters complaining. The best place you can make money in MMA is with the UFC so most fighters love & respect the UFC. I know most fighters dream of fighting for the UFC so I think they are doing great with the fighters pay and exposure. If you are falling for the Jake Paul bs then you really are pathetic person and should stay off message boards! You are embarrassing yourselves. Put down the bong and move out of your parents basement and get a freaking job!!! I guarantee none of you have ever owned a business and likely are extremely young and jobless for your entire life! You all are like cousin Eddie holding out for a management position for the past 9 years! Grow up!!!

Doesn't matter what the fighters want.

Unless they have options to make money elsewhere they are fucked.

Options = power.

Fighters have no option but to bend the knee to the biggest player, the UFC.

In Bellator, I believe they pay their fighters 60% of the revenue..... there's a reason the percentages are so different. Ufc does 16-18%.
Bellator Champs have options.

As a fan, I would obviously rather see my favorite fighters fight more often. But with that being said, I am all for paying the fighters more. The idea that someone who is earning more per fight would choose to fight less doesn't hold much water. If my boss told me that I'd be earning $1000 for working one day, but an additional $1000 each day I choose to work that week, you can bet that I'd be going in more than once a week.
