Would Thompson benefit from a move up to MW?

He got wrestlef*cked by a professional lay and prayer who is juicy as hell, I don't see why people are taking so much away from this.

He doesn't seem to have much strength at WW let alone MW. I think he should take a favourable match up and then hang them up. He's too old to suddenly develop good enough takedown defence or a ground game to compete with the top guys in the division.

There are still fights I'd like to see him in, but his time chasing the title is over.

Dana's regretting that multi fight contract extension he just gave WB

It has nothing to do with weight class. It has to do with the game passing WB by. He's too one dimensional, and doesn't have the takedown defense to keep the fight in his realm like Adesanya does. This was really bad. Burns is one thing, but Belal's not even known as some elite grappler.

I think he will benefit more from retirement. Not being mean, just being real.. he does way too much point fighting and is old now. That point fighting stuff to win decisions I think you need to be fast and accurate to score the points, but he has slowed down now and is not as dynamic.

A move to LW would be better for Wonderboy

Wouldnt be easy but would be easier than bulking up to MW which would actually hinder his style of fighting with that extra bulk

Wonderboy has said plenty of times that when training with Weidman (big MW grappler) he feels like a child, for example, when The Chris grabs his wrist. So he definitely doesn’t want to go to MW to fight with even bigger boys.

He keeps his weight down pretty easily from what I’ve heard him talk about it. He stays in a good shape throughout the year and won’t balloon up like many guys. He is a welterweight and his strong suits are movement and striking.

This time his opponent was able to impose his will and use his tools to get the W. Wonderboy didn’t get to play his own game. It’s okay. He’ll come back and get another chance to prove he’s still a dangerous fighter.
