Would McGregor Would Easily Beat Lawler At 170lbs?

Did anyone see Brendan Schaub on the Fight Companion podcast last night? He basically told Joe that he thought McGregor would easily beat Lawler if he was to step up to Welterweight. I find this hard to visualise at the moment but who knows what will happen.

I think Conor beats him. Lawler will have the size advantage but size isn't everything. It only takes so much to KO somebody and if you land in the right spot at the right time, you can put down practically anybody.

Lawler has gotten wobbled pretty good in basically every fight for the last few years. If I remember correctly, was hurt by Hendricks in the first, hurt BADLY by Rory, wobbled by Brown in the 1st, wobbled by Ellenberger (I could be wrong about this one), and Condit also hurt him, too. Lawler arguably lost to Hendricks twice, was losing to Rory until he got the knockout, etc, etc.

I think Conor catches him eventually. Lawler is a little too sloppy for Conor's extremely powerful, quick and precise striking. Not saying Conor WOULD beat him, but I would definitely pick him if they were to fight. We've seen much smaller fighters completely destroy much bigger opponents. Anything can happen. Conor can beat anybody between 145-170, in my opinion. He has the skills to do it. He's one of the best strikers in MMA history, that's a fact.

Correction: He said that if Conor can beat RDA then he should be able to beat Lawler. Brendan thinks that RDA is a tougher matchup for Conor and the toughest possible matchup at that weight class.

Conor to welterweight is giving up significant size and will be mixing it up with fighter's of at least equal power. Even if let's say Conor has a fair skill advantage over X or Y fighter, how far can that skill advantage take him against a 5'11 - 6'1 and 190 - 210lbs heavy hitter at welterweight? For me, it wouldn't be worth the risk.

McGregor would have a shot with his striking game. But if Robbie hit him I think he would scramble his brains up, lets consider that Conor is a 170lbs or so before dropping weight while Robbie is around 200lbs. There will be a considerable size difference if this fight happens soon, Conor wouldnt really have time to put on size right.
