Worst Loss of a legend, ever?

We may well be hard pressed to find a sadder example then this.

I think the first one is far more worst and embarassing too. Silva clowning the whole time, mocking Chris the whole time, then getting knocked out, his record shattered, and his reign ended.

It's far more worst imo considering his legacy. The 2nd fight is just an unfortunate incident and was stopped by an injury, and not really a "loss" in people's eyes.
He got dropped and arguably flash KOed on that punch to the ear in the clinch in round 1, iirc he got mounted in round 1 and then his leg broke by getting his kick checked.

That’s a loss to me.

I get what you are saying, but in order for me to personally buy into that type of narrative for the fight he would have had to have had SOME success where the outcome was still up for grabs or the freak injury would have had to happen before he was on a losing trajectory.

Stipe has some really bad losses that are really strange for someone that's considered an atg fighter. First he gets koed by a can like struve, then gets obliterated in the first round by the lhw champ who took stipes belt from him. Stipe was favored to win that fight too as dc was already belived to be past his best at that point. I would argue the loss to dc was worse than the loss to Francis

You were right about gatekeeper and jman amd over rated. I like watching diaz fights but the term legend is thrown around way too much. And to call him one of the biggest stars in sports history is a ridiculous exaggeration. There are barely a half dozen fighters ever who have been popular enough to compare to the stars of other real sports

Well 2 of the top 5 biggest UFC PPV blockbusters have been headlined by him.

Imma go ahead an say it. Im a HUGE Fedor fan but i consider his fight with Brawldonado a loss, and a really bad one at that.

They were headlined by mcnugget . Diaz was along for the ride. He would have retired with his 60k contract in 2016 had Conor not made him rich.
He's still not a legend of the sport. An OG, a pioneer, a guy who managed to find a way to get rich, sure. And he's not even on the radar of being one of the most popular stars in sports history.

Fuck there are nobodies playing in other major sports that are way more well known and popular than him. He is popular amongst UFC fans and the occasional casual. That doesn't stack up

Seeing Fedor getting knocked out by a looping left hand thrown from a mile away by Bader, when in Fedor's prime he would've either countered that shot easily, or close the distance to take down Bader using a trip or a throw
