"Researchers say world's second-largest emperor penguin colony has been wiped out"
Story: https://thehill.com/policy/energy-e...-worlds-second-largest-emperor-penguin-colony

Sad. :(
"Researchers say what was once the world’s second-largest colony of emperor penguins has 'now all but disappeared' after changes in sea-ice conditions made their typical breeding grounds highly unstable."

"A group of researchers from the British Antarctic Survey (BAS) published their findings in the Antarctic Science journal on Thursday. The team said in a statement that they studied 'very high resolution satellite imagery to reveal the unusual findings'.”

"According to their research, satellite imagery showed that the emperor penguin colony at Halley Bay in Antarctica had drastically decreased over the past three years on account of breeding failures caused by severe changes in local environmental conditions."

Good, fuck those little perverts.

Its sad, but its the natural way of things. 99.9% of all species that have ever existed are extinct.

They moved to other colony bro, so not really "wiped out".

Is their last name Emelianenko..!

Because that would explain their downfall..

They did wipe out, I saw a 30/30 documentary about it.

Sad but this has been happening for millions of years.

I was going to say, relocating doesn't mean death. Sucks their habitat has changed so much, but people have agendas so there's that.

never at the rate it's undergoing now. Even the Cretaceous Extinction event (which is considered the fastest and most dramatic of prehistoric mass extinctions) took place over tens of thousands of years after the initial impact. The current extinction event, which has been dubbed the Holocene or Anthropocene Extinction has only started with the dawn of civilization. Though there were mass extinctions attributed to humans before this (namely the eradication of large fauna in Eurasia and the Americas), it is the global mechanization of industry that really ramped up the death toll.

Thank you seriously for understanding the Sixth Extinction that is happening in our current times. Our impact on the planet has had such an effect the current geological age has been named after us.

Yep, now it turns into a fucking war room. Should've known its not about the penguins in the first place.

Love this post.

Also just watched a great Special on how important ice is to these animals across the globe. It’s importance is monumental.

Penguins, seals, polar bears and the most important Krill are really being hurt by climate change. Krill are so important and they need the ice to hide.

It damages all these species. Polar bears have less ice to hide when hunting. Seals can no longer build dens for their pups and must leave them in danger on top of The Ice, penguins have less places to live and have babies. Walrus have less area to live as well.

These climate change deniers are quite possibly the dumbest people on earth. “Butt murrr climatez haz alwayz changed”

So I guess it's unhappy feet now then ?

let’s not forget to mention the ice reflects the suns rays and keeps the planet from heating acting as an air conditioner for the planet.

When the ice melts at a faster rate, or melts earlier in the season, the earth gets warmer in turn hurting every single ecosystem on earth.
