"I think that fight will happen," said Woodley, who is regaining his range of motion this week. "I think it will happen this year. I think it's way more likely than people realize. There are conversations about Nate and I fighting in July. The UFC has offered Nate that fight. They just have to make it worth his while.

"I think I'll fight Nate this year, and I think it will be my return to the Octagon. If I had to bet the house on it, that's my next opponent."

Lmao pls tell me this is a joke

id love to see Woodley KO Nate into retirement

I don't think Nate can make 155 any more tbh

He always struggled to make 155 and now he's been chillin getting fat since he got paid.

If this fight happens, he'll be even more hated. lol.

I think you're right that making 155 for him is too much of a struggle for him now. I said before the 2nd McGregor fight that we'd never see Nate at 155 again, and it's looking more and more like that is true. That being said, he's be a below-average sized WW in terms of both in-cage weight and strength. I don't see him having much success against the top 10 at WW; certainly not against the top 5.

Diaz is totally a legitimate WW contender, makes sense.

Totally.

Fucking stupid matchmaking.

Woodley is scare of RDA or what?!?

You are insane if you think he wouldn't make 155 if he was getting paid 20 million to fight Conor.

However, since he's not getting paid that he might not.

Woodley wants the Diaz fight in order to get into the Conor picture. Imagine he beats Diaz and then Conor gets to fight for his third belt.

I'd love to see Diaz triangle that unlikeable dude, though

Nate has the money to hire a great wrestling coach now. Bulk up a bit more too.

I don't mind it but it shouldn't be in July, making the 170lb contendors wait too long.

Until that moment comes, he's not going to put in the effort to make 155. He's getting older and his body is filling out. He was always an extremely large LW. I just don't see him doing it without a monstrous incentive. $20m (which he'll never get) to fight Conor is one such example of an incentive that would convince him to make 155.

Should be Dos Anjos... But still trying to make money off of the Nate - Conor fights. The trash talk might be better than the fight.

There is absolutely no way that Conor will ever agree to fight Woodley.

The reason that the UFC wants this fight is because of the off chance that Diaz manages to beat Woodley. Diaz having the welterweight belt is a dream scenario for Conor. That would guarantee Conor 2 cracks at winning a third belt because if he loses the first welterweight title fight against Diaz, an immediate rematch will follow, just like they did when Conor was trying to avoid defending the featherweight belt.

In the likely event that Diaz loses to Woodley, Conor will still want another fight with Diaz and find bullshit ways to justify it.

So for Diaz, fighting for the welterweight title is a no-brainer.

I'm a big Diaz fan but he's not even ranked top 15 at ww, this fight would be a joke
