He lost to Shields, the kelvin fight was really close, rory isn't a wrestler but he's kinda like GSP where his wrestling is legit.

He beat Kos but Kos was way past his prime when that happened.

Lets see him beat Usman or GSP.....even a colby before we start calling him Goat. He's had a lot of good style match ups so far during his run

Meh Maia had pretty good takedowns and he was able to stuff every one. Mia managed to take Rory down and control him.

If Dana really hates Woodley, he'll pay for all of Kelvin's training including a 24/7 nutritionist so he can return to WW or just buy Rory back.

He doesn't stand a chance

Wrestlers are his easiest matchups. He's one of the most complete fighters in the roster.

Woodley trains with Askren, there is no WW in the world that will give Woodley a harder time in the wrestling department than his training partner Askren.

UFC is protecting him just like they did with Conor

Shields "won" based on activity. Woodley stuffed like 19 TDs in that fight with ease, and the Kelvin fight might have played out very differently if Gastelum actually had to drain himself to make weight.

KG and Kos are pretty good wrestlers..

Woodley is legit D1 high level wrestler.

Theres no one in the division who can compete with that except maybe Colby, but still different levels.

GSP v Woodley is interesting. GSP has a history of shutting down grapplers waaaaay more decorated than him.

He fucked up Kos, he nullified Shields, he edged Hendricks and finished both Matts.

I'd love to see it.

I believe Woodley had slightly better placements but Colby was a D1 all-American too, so they are at a comparable level. Woodley likely murders him in MMA.

I mean I'm going to say the mandela effect must be real, for the last 13+ years all I've ever read on this site is "striker so and so isn't really that good all he does is beat up Wrestling bums" until magically it became "Dominate champ is no good until he beats a wrestler"

This is concrete proof of the mandela effect in my humble opinion

It seems to me that a striking specialist would have a better chance against Woodley than a wrestler. He’s probably the strongest fighter in the division, so good luck getting and keeping him on the ground. Best chance would be to light him up when his back is to the cage like Wonderboy and Nate did. I don’t think a wrestler would have any advantage over him, because he is a striker first.

Both had a 5th place finish. Tyron had 2x All American honors to Colby’s 1. Tyron competed at 165 in early 2000s and Colby at 174 a couple of years later.

So yeah they are pretty neck and neck on paper. Colby would have to fight the perfect fight to stand a chance.

Usman fight could turn a little boring but very technical and interesting

his most dominant wins are over strikers

Because he was fighting strikers in all of his title fights except one. If he fights a wrestler now, he will show the same dominance regardless.

Woodley has great TDD, I doubt he’s worried about that.

Kos was a national champion.

Hendricks was too. But it wasn't Woodleys fault Johnny didn't make weight.

Hieron wrestled D1

Coy was a D1 all American at Oregon State.

Woodley isn't ducking wrestlers.
