Media Wonderboy thinks Colby stand up is crap

Colby is a mediocre striker at best but for what he lacks in technique he makes up for in volume and pace. He also mixes in the threat of takedowns as well. But I think Thompson gave a rather fair assessment of his abilities here.

Well it's not great but i wouldn't call it crap. It's ok for mma. Effective is a more accurate description.

Colbys striking is effective. He outstruck Usman for long periods of time and had a crazy output vs Lawler.
Wish he would use more body strike attacks. That would be a nightmare for anyone when he has great cardio to keep pressing.

Colby's technique isn't top-tier but his overall striking is effective in its purpose which is to be another form of pressure. I also laugh when people say he's got no power but ignore the insane volume he can produce, which logically leads to the conclusion that he holds back his power, often, by a lot.

Everything Wonderboy said was basically true, and nothing really all that disrespectful at all. I'm sure Colby would have similar things to say about Wonderboy's wrestling.

Wonderboy is correct, pretty much spot on, the threat of the wrestling is what allows some of these guys who are such great wrestlers to land some of this volume striking, but just because they land X amount of strikes does not mean they have great striking. Guys like Colby , Usman, even Khabib, their striking is sub par, but the threat of the take down is so scary that most fighters are defending that first and will be open to the strikes as the lesser evil.

Even when he's being critical, he still manages to be as friendly as Bob Ross.

It's true, the wrestling threat, ability to wall n dhzl' and his cardio are what carry his striking, he's not very good technically and doesn't have power

Wonderboy went life and death with Woodley both fights and lost to Woodley. Colby FINISHED Woodley.

Lmao Wonderboy fought Woodley in his prime, Colby fought him coming off two losses. Can't compare them IMO.
I don't hear Colby bragging about his standup. He is a much better fighter
than Wonderboy now and ever was.
