Wonder Boy is just another Machida..Yawn.

It's truly amazing that TS has lasted this long on Sherdog. Wonderboy has way more traps, tricks, and techniques he implements, they're not even in the same ballpark. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't know what they're looking at, or just isn't paying attention when they're watching both guys fight.

You don't have to like his style.

Now that you know that you don't like it you shouldn't watch any more of his fights or complain anymore. Glad we solved this pressing issue.

I enjoyed the fight. But I must be strange because I enjoy watching machida too.

TS I see you dont post much, lets keep it that way.

hang on but it also happened against woodley for 2 whole fights, and he's a wrestler. No excuses for Wonder boy sorry.

Wonderboy is a point fighter for the most part, but I'm still a fan.

You wish you were a Ninja, but... You just a fat troll. Go watch some old Chuck lidell fights or something. Technique is not for you.

Thompson throws in a rare exotic kick but almost never with real commitment, 95% of what he throws is from a very narrow range of attacks.

Machida has had some dull defensive performances but also he's committed far more to his offence than Thompson has, Wonderboy will only really commit against badly outmatched opponents.

Yet he out struck Till on the backfoot. Seriously you newbs need to watch at least 5 years of mma before you're allowed to post

Dude his account was made in 2001. If he has had a sherdog account for 17 years im pretty sure he has watched more than 5 years of mma

2001 account? Time to retire, old man.

Yeah I just watched the fight. He's a disappointment. He's more an opportunist than a fighter. If the shot or finish is there, he takes it, but if it's not, he willingly loses. That's why he apologized for his performance in the first Woodley fight, then fought the exact same way in the rematch. He isn't willing to take any risks to win a fight.

A big part of the problem is this is simply where most of his skill set lies, the US karate/kickboxing scene tends to focus on a few big names fighting badly out matched opponents and winning without taking many risks.

Wonderboy has emerged as one of the most technical, skilled fighters in a division that's *way* more competitive than it was in the mid 2000s. And the 2001 join date is particularly bizarre since in theory it should be clear how many miles Machida as well as Wonderboy are ahead of the brawlers who were prominent in the early 2000s. Wonderboy was, well, he was rather impressive considering he was in there against another technical striker with that obscene a size advantage.

What he does he does VERY well and I'd agree its partly due to the general advancement of the division that he's not been more dominant, look at what he was doing to the traditional WW brawling wrestlers.

Machida was a champion, and is a legend. Wonderboy is not going to reach that level, but he certainly isn't the worst out there, by a long shot.

Tbh Machida has also been helped by great speed advantage playing in a slower division and bigger names to fight

On technical side i value Wonderboy very high, if not on par with Lyoto, not far behind

Their fights may be boring (I deal with em just fine but I get their style is not for everyone)but when they finish, man do they finish.

Yup, the suspense for me is something crazy could happen any moment.

I had high hopes for him a few years ago, he looked like he could be the next big thing with an exciting style but sadly he's just another runner. Watching him fight is so tedious I fast forwarded half the fight, I can only take so much of one guy chasing someone around an octagon over and over. Against Woodley you could argue he had an excuse because of the take down threat but he did the same thing against Till, who is just a stand up fighter. Just like Machida he has the tools but is too scared to use them and fire, and instead just spends most fights running, that's not fighting sorry, its anti fighting I'm done with him , hope he gets KO'ed next fight.
go watch wrestling.

We should be so lucky to be graced with another Machida era

I didn't think I'd see another "Machida is boring" thread in 2018, let alone right after he KOd Belfort with a single kick in round 1.

Yeah, I know it's about Wonderboy but TS says they're both boring and can't even tell the difference between them. LOL

The "he's just running" argument has been done to death. Running doesn't win fights, effective striking does - and that's what they both do.

Also, somehow these JUST BLEED asshats discredit lateral movement and countering by calling it "running" but they are completely blind to the fact that the other fighter can't simply rush in and KO the "runner". And whenever someone tries - they get counter-KOd.

Yeah, Machida is so boring, he puts ppl to sleep. :D

Same with Wonderboy.

As if all fighters have one hitter quitters and finish fights. God forbid some guy have to rely on techniques and skill to get the win. Yes and that means decisions sometimes.

Oh so you mean Muay Thai fighters with 200+ fights don't have techniques because they stand and trade, kill or be killed? Nak Muays don't run around the ring all day taking potshots then run again. Bouncing around looking for perfect shots = Wonderbread and Machidass and Holmes = Points Karate in a rented high school gym for trophies. You can go watch this for $5-10/admission to remind you about your McDojo black belt.
