Nicco Montano, mma record of 4-2, lost to a nobody just last year, won tuf and is now a UFC champ. Not fighter bashing more just bashing the UFC for doing this dumb shit and creating paper champs. Shevchenko vs Montano will be as one sided as Joanna vs Esparza.

They should have just given the title to Shevchenko.

UFC needs to quit it with these reality TV show cans they keep trying to promote.

She lost to a nobody who is 3-0 http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Julia-Avila-91159 , but is also a BW and beat Marion Reneau, a pretty good UFC BW. Julia Avila is only 3-0 but has been fighting pro since 2012, 3 years earlier than Montano.

I still agree that Shevchenko smashes her and every other Women's FLW

People sleeping on Nicco, she might lose to Shevchenko but she's got some great aggressive striking. It's like you forget Rose 2-1 was on that TUF show too how did her v JJ go?

When TUF was for a world title they should have been TUF Live seasons so the fights counted towards their records. Nico (4-2 could be 7-2 at least) and Rose (7-3 could be 10-3) have 3 solid wins each that just don’t count.

Nico did a legit job beating some top level FWs on TUF. She is still very green but tough and does have skill. Instead of belittling her record remember she best an Invicta FW champ , a UFC BW Vet and a very good young prospect on the show. Who had a combined record at the time of something like 28-7. That's pretty respectable compared to what's getting title shots in the 115 lb and 135 lb divisons right now. Also gives her a four fight win streak.

Val will certainly have a HuGe advantage in their upcoming fight. Experience alone. Don't forget that val also only have a three fight win streak getting her title shot against Nunes.

Interestingly enough. Shevchenko said in a recent interview when asked about Montano that she thinks it will be a lot tougher fight than people think and Nicco is a much better fighter than many give her credit for.

Even if Montano loses ( probably will) , wouldn't be surprised if she works her way up and gets another title shot. With time and her work ethic, toughness and experience she has a bright future in the UFC.

WMMA fans are generally morons who do not understand or care about quality. You are dealing with complete and utter cretins who genuinely believed that Rona Rousey could beat Floyd Mayweather in a fight. There is no hope for people that stupid. They would probably watch dog fighting if the UFC put it on.

Before this fight Val was 4-3 against decent opposition in mma - I'm being generous and including Jan Finney as a decent win. After today she's still 4-3 because Cachoeira was no different in skill level from some of the names that pad Shevchenko's record in Peru and China.

Of course Val is going to be a big favorite to take the 125 belt but Nicco is at least the same level as girls like Carmouche and Kaufman who gave Shev trouble, her wins against Honchak, Murphy and yes Modafferi prove that.

Shevchenko's fanbase - wìth a few exceptions - do her no favours.

Typical Joanna fan lashing out against Valentina just because Joanna got knocked the fuck out into another realm

Julia Avila has a pro record of 4-0, aside from her ammy wins.

Sherdog is missing Avila def. Candace Maricle by Sub at 1:18 of rd. 1 at HD MMA 9, 2017.07.22.

Dropping Maricle to 1-1 as a pro, 6-2 as an ammy.

Shevchenko is a very talented woman and fighter and ought to climb towards the top of the flyweight division and it is fair to think of her as having a fair to strong case as the eventual Champion of the UFC's women's flyweight division.

There are some fairly good fighters in the UFC already at that weight class and a good bit more outside of the UFC so everyone will be tested. Hopefully we all get to get see some good fights along the way.

I am looking forward to the journey.

Everybody knows Shev will be the champ, it's just a matter of time...

They should have just had a tournament with the established fighters that were moving up/down from 115/135.

If someone can beat her from this division it's Nicco. Probably not, but i won't write her off.

I think I didn't know the ufc had a 125 women's division until tonight lol
