Missed Robertson fight looks like she's not going to be any better at SW from this result still.

Barber really showed up and put a beating on ribas. Maverick must be even more upset with how their careers have gone since their split Dec.

The Barber/Ribas fight turned bloody quickly. I like Ribas, but she needs to work on her striking defense to be really effective. She's tough, but once Barber landed a few of those head kicks....

Funny part of the fight was hearing Dominik tell DC how effective the head and arm throw is for women's fights.

seems like opponent speed was not factored into weight class change for the savage - robertson always had slow hand speed but at sw it might be even more of an issue. that said, if robertson ever went back up to flw and got matched with natalia silva it would be a bloodbath
what does one do with slow hand speed, any thoughts?

eta: ricci kept it standing for most of the fight, which was a great gameplan

I've seen lots of people praising Barber as a result of last night. Did everyone forget she scammed people by claiming and promoting to have a black belt she doesn't have? The trashy way she and her father dealt with the Modafferi loss?

No sympathy from me, besides all of her finishes being against smaller women. Give her a true Flyweight, or someone who won't get overwhelmed by her brute strength (Grasso, Lee, Modafferi, Maverick) and she doesn't perform well. Send her to Maia, let's see how she does against someone her size with sound defense.

Yeah Ricci had a good game plan that she executed well against Robertson. Move in and out and side to side with combinations. Neutralize the grappling by being the first to get the takedowns and don't get stuck in them. Get back up and deliver more punishment on the feet.

Barber vs. Ribas was a fun banger. Ribas had some moments, she is tough. Barber's head kicks, hard punches, well-timed judo throw and ground & pound earned her the TKO and a FOTN bonus.

Robertson once again went up against her biggest weakness this weekend: a superior athlete. Ricci was faster, quicker, and able to outwork her. Robertson is gonna continue to struggle with these types at Strawweight, but on the other hand, I don’t see Ricci getting much higher than where she is now, at #15.

in the battle of annoying people, Ribas and her utter lack of defense fell victim to a big hitter in Barber. Ribas started out well, but by the end of the first the story of the fight had been laid out. Barber is still intent on a Grasso rematch, but she has a ways to go.

Barber/Ribas delivered the Just Bleeds, which was nice. Good entertainment value there.

A "pity" Ricci did not really give Robertson anything to work with, but what can you do - that's how she loses if she doesn't get the grappling going. Good showing from Ricci, and the occasional cool moment nonetheless.
