Without bias, did Silva lose his first fight to Chris or did Chris really win?

Anderson was getting pieced up. He started clowning to make it look like he wasn't losing and to build an excuse for poor performance. He didn't have much in the 2nd fight either, Weidman just figured his game out.
The impression I got as well.

He was losing and tried to act as tho he wasn’t losing. He was on his way to an L either way in that fight. Same with fight number two. He literally got punched to the canvas and was taking a beating before the leg break.
I love Silva, but I am not delusional about the Weidman fights.

Chris didn't play his game, so Silva was doing the best he could to draw him out. It didn't work.

I do think that Silva clowned too much and paid for it, but I don't know that he was going to win even if he was being completely serious.

Silva went on a long losing streak since Weidman, hard to call it a fluke.

His time was up as a champion, though still a great fighter.

Legit win, even if Silva was fading. A lot of people forget that Silva was not very good on the lead, hence he relied on baiting guys in so much. He couldn't lead with Chris, and was trying to taunt him into throwing more so he could counter. And we know how it ended that night.

Silva was at 38 when he lost to teh Chris. He was probably losing a step or two in the gym already. It is amazing that he is still fighting almost ten years later.

It's hard to consider it a fluke when he was losing almost every second of those fights. He got desperate, and it didn't pay off. Likely knew chris wasn't going to be easy to catch in a sub like he was able to get Chael in. Started playing games in an attempt to keep it on the feet, and lost anyways. It was plain as day to see Weidman was the better man both nights regardless of what happened at the exact moment of the finishes.

Here’s my opinion, I think Silva knew if they went to the ground then Chris will have the upper hand so he tried to bait him into striking and got caught in a very bad position

I was a huge Silva fan, and right from the start, he looked like he wasn't taking Wiedman seriously. It is one of the most disappointed I have ever been at a fight result. He acted like an idiot, and paid the price. I think Silva lost the fight because of over confidence, then lost the rematch by a fluke leg break. That said, he did lose 2 fights to Wiedman, and that is all that matters.

100% agreed, I feel like if he went back to a traditional Muay Thai stance and not clowned at all, he could of won that.

Anderson blew it the first fight for sure.

Weidman was already slowing down, breathing with his mouth open and Anderson was beginning to stuff his takedowns, implement leg kicks.

Second fight is a whole other story, but yes, Anderson absolutely should have won the first fight and he blew it clowning.

I think the clowning bit is overplayed personally. Silva was older and past his prime and Chris was a rough stylistic matchup for him anyways.

As the saying goes,” It was his fight to lose”. By that it means, he just acted reckless and lost the fight and not because his opponent was better than him. So my question goes like this, is this the case of Anderson Silva vs Chris Weidman and that it was Silva’s fight to lose since he started leaving this hands down clowning around and being reckless or did Chris expose his weaknesses?
Silva was taken down with ease, got GnP’d, and was beaten in the stand up; eventually getting KO’d. The only success he had was with leg kicks, which ultimately cost him the 2nd fight and his shin.
Yea, Chris beat him thoroughly, and Silva is top 3 in my all time favorite fighters.

I rewatched the card a couple weeks ago. Chris was forsure winning the fight but he was breathing a bit hard by round 2 and silva’s leg kicks were his best shots he landed all fight. The clowning was a nail in the coffin but Chris’s backhand during the combo threw Silva’s timing off and he got starched. It’s 100% real win and the second fight he rocked Silva really bad in round 1. But Chris’s legs weren’t a problem like the first fight since he worked the check that ended it he was more ready for Silva than any man ever. Side note prime Frankie Edgar’s boxing and footwork was a treat to watch Oliveria was game tho made it a great fight would’ve loved to see them prime for prime.

100% what I said haha someone’s always a second ahead of me {<redford}

You guys make Anderson out to the be dumbest guy in the world.

HOW could he be overconfident? He got his ass whupped almost the entire fight.

True but Serra KO’d GSP also so sometimes at this level u just can’t leave yourself open
GSP won the rematch,Anderson did not.
