I have been looking for a glove that fits snug and provides better wrist support, so after reading Stratocastr

I am not sure if this glove is a North American exclusive model and if it is identical in construction as the one made for the European and Thai markets. Why? This glove color combination is not shown on the www.windyfightgear.co.uk site and it does not have the same markings on the palm or the

Fit & Comfort:

Putting my unwrapped hand into the glove it was a tight fit due to the extra padding on the palm of the glove. Thumb placement was great and my fingertips did not bottom out. The knuckle area is very roomy, wider than the Fairtex BGV1.

These gloves are designed to be used without handwraps but I was not going to take any chances so I wrapped my hands up as usual using my 140

The Windy has these foam rods in the cuff and it locks in your wrist and prevents it from bending. This is the excellent wrist support I was after.

After 5 minutes with the gloves on I could feel the pressure of the padded palm pushing against my hand, this squeezing of the top and bottom of my hand together caused a bit of discomfort. As I mentioned earlier, the extra padding acts as insulation and your hand will heat up quickly.

The foam used is very firm and dense and I was wondering just how much padding there was in there. When I pushed down on the padding I can only describe it as feeling like you are pushing down on some foam that was attached to a piece of cardboard and it

Thats disapointing, I was wanting to get a pair of these when I go to Thailand next week but I may have to reconsider and look for something else.

Good review, man. It's a shame the padding was such a disappointment. It does look like there is a difference in construction and quality between the Pro lines on the Windy UK site and this model. Honestly, these look like second-tier versions of the gloves Strat reviewed (the actual UK model).

Is there anyway you can return them?

I do believe the Thai version would be different than this pair I have, however, the padding on the palm may cause the same issues and it does take away quite a lot of the room in the hand pocket. Have you considered some Boons? That is the next glove I want to try as people like the wrist support and the snug hand pocket.

I was able to return them with a 15% restocking fee + return shipping, so $28.00 spent to hopefully save a fellow Sherdogger $80-100.

I'd like to try the other version just to know if it is different... maybe if I ask nicely Strat would lend me his! =p

These gloves are the same as Strato's. Made in Thailand and bought by the retailer deirectly from the factory, so no, Strato's (U.K.) are hardly any different.

Yeah I've had a few pairs of boons, they don't do it for me. I think they are a good glove but Im not a fan. I have a pair I need to get rid of.

Im glad you cleared that up. So Windy UK puts that stamp on the palm themselves? Im asking because on the Windy UK website....the prolines have the stamp on the palm and the Made in Thailand stamp on the wrist strap. The prolines i see at Fighters Inc. look exactly like MC Hammered's with no stamp on palms or wrist straps.

wow that totally sucks man, I really liked mine, but once I got the GSP Hayabusa there was no sense in me keeping both gloves around. I didn't really have a bottoming out issue with a cardboard like feel to it.

Totally believe you but mine didn't feel anything like that, I made 100% sure that I tested the padding, maybe they changed the materials involved. Glove companies do that all the time without letting the customer know that is to include winning, Ringside, title, etc.

That's about the only thing I could think of.

No, of course they don't put it themselves. But this doesn't mean anything. You can order Fairtex with "handmade in Thailand" or without it for example.

Fighters Inc. are an official direct partner of Twins and Windy for decades, they always buy directly from the factory (there is only one Windy factory, isn't there?) in Thailand and in some countries they are even an exclusive distributor of these brands.

But I am honestly sorry some of you guys don't like them. I am not a huge fan of them either, as I stated in Strato's review btw, where I didn't share his impression (which is normal, since I have much mire fragile hands thna Strato), neither in case of the knuckle padding nor in case in the wrist support (as for the wrist support I simply cannot agree they are anywhere close to Tokushu, the are not).
Among Thai brands the only really well padded (fro knuckles) gloves are Twins imo

Above all these are probably just different batches, so you have no guarantee you would get a better pair if you order elsewhere (in the U.K. it might be a different batch already either).

Yeah I mean I liked the twins pro fights, but the regular trainers, I was not a fan of. I guess when it comes to Thai gloves I just don't see the fascination with Fairtex. I mean I tried them all.

my opinion is that its more like a placebo effect. Cuz I think Fairtex has one of the WORST knuckle paddings but a lot of people seem to like it but then complain about other superior padded gloves which is completely ironic to me.

So I felt windys proline padding was above Fairtex in every which way, padding, shock absorption etc.

I also felt while like OP I got ALOT more wrist support from the windy's than many other thai gloves.

The pictures clearly show how well the gloves hug the wrist.

Prolines definitely have an above average wrist support, not only among Thai gloves but in general imo

The knuckle padding in my opinion isn't the best in the world nor it is the worst but for my fragile hands it was unacceptable.

Agreed about Fairtex (at least in case of their most popular model BGV1), I can hardly call them much protective. On the other hand Twins classic velcro are very fine for knuckles, yes they are huge and ugly, but the padding is really good.

I think the blue Pro lines may have different padding, or more of it. I remember reading on the Windy UK site when I was considering purchasing a pair (before I calculated the exchange rate...), that the Blue Prolines have 4 layers of padding and are a "harder" glove. But who knows really if there's a difference between the Blue and White ones. It's always disappointing to spend good money on a pair of gloves and then receive a less-than-stellar product.

Boon is a great option imho. If you're a fan of more traditional Thai gloves (the bgv 1) then I can see why the more Western-inspired design would be a turnoff. Boon, to me, is a less a Muay Thai glove and more a boxing glove made by a Thai (Australian?) company. The best of both worlds, really. Cheers.

To make the long story short, I am going to visit the local exclusive Windy distributor on tomorrow and test all proline colour variations (the one reviewed here, blue/black and red/black). Will let you know.
