Tate is likely gonna take a beating from Nunes in the first round one way or another. There is no area of the fight where Nunes is at a disadvantage except for her cardio. Nunes is definitely better on the feet and is also more skilled on the ground. Also if you haven't noticed, every time Tate steps up to fight a fighter of Nunes' caliber, she loses badly (Rousey and Zingano). The only reason Nunes isn't a favorite is because she is not very well known and is looked at as a nobody. The only way Tate wins this is if Nunes gasses badly, which she has done before.

Tate is tough as fuck. The beating she took from Cat was savage, and she was hanging in there till the end.

I think she will absorb some serious punishment, and wear Nunes down.

How?

Last I checked Tate beat Holm, won 2 rounds against Zingano, and survived for 3 rounds against Ronda (which used to be a big deal).

I don't see how Nunez is a big threat, seems like a fairly easy defense for Tate

Zingano beat both Tate and Nunes btw

Zingano vs Holm is an interesting fight for me and also Rousey rematch with SMART gameplan

Tate vs. Nunes is a squash match, cardio is the ultimate skill and Nunes doesn't have it, it's a shame too because she has the tools to beat Tate if she can get her cardio in order.

Perhaps. But maybe you didn’t remember that Tate won the first two rounds vs Zigano? Sort of throws a wrench in your theory.

Nunes is a better striker and grappler.

I've said it over and over... Nunes is coming for that belt and will defend it against Holly... Tate wins by hanging on, Nunes wins by devastation.

Sig/avatar bet anyone? No noob accounts.

Nunes won a round against Zingano too and messed her up worse than Tate did, I don't see why we give out credit for surviving against Ronda though, it's not like she hadn't already been finished by her in the first round once.

Holm is a terrible style match up for Nunes, she'd wear her down on the feet within 2 rounds. Anybody who doesn't get a finish against Nunes in a championship fight should be ashamed of themselves.

I agree with that I guess, but saying that Tate will easily be destroyed in R1 is pretty iffy to me. I would still have to favor Tate in this fight. Nunez hasn't fought the same competition level, it will be very interesting to see the outcome, but I get what your saying

I strongly disagree with every word of this statement.

Holm > Rousey
Rousey > Tate
Tate > Holm
Zingano > Tate
Rousey > Zingano

Adding Nunez to the equation only increases the conundrum

Nunes may be better on the feet. It's disheartening for some fighters to give everything they've got in their arsenal and have their opponent take it and continue moving forward. Tate has insane heart and is tough as nails. Don't count her out so easily.

There should be a dislike button for comments like these. If Holm can barely out strike Marion Renaue or whoever then she is no lock against Nunes. Plus Holm doesn't have nearly as much power as Nunes.

Marion Reneau has a gas tank and Holm soundly beat her 30-27, Nunes would come forward winging those punches and Holm would outbox her, everybody thinks they know what a good striker is until they see a good striker, I can tell you don't know much about the striking game, how is Nunes going to beat Holm? She has a 1 round gas tank and can only get takedowns when she's in the clinch and we've already seen Holm can negate the best clinch game in the division. Nunes could be a great fighter if she had cardio but unfortunately she doesn't and that's why she'll lose to anybody in the top 5 almost every single time.

On the grappler I would have something to say. Both in Zingano and Shevchenko bouts she found herself on the bottom from a top position just for her own mistakes.
She can "Julia Budd" Tate, and I think it's very unlikely since the girl has a concrete skull and learnt to move the head around in a decent way, or she can do Shevchenko 2 and wait forever that something happens. I don't know...neither of the 2 options convinces me, with Tate.
Said so, I think Nunes is way more difficult than what some people think, starting with that idiot manager of Holly Holm who defined her a weaker opponent. I'd like to see this weaker opponent grappling with his girl, then we see.

I agree with everything you said but also Nunes will always gas badly. She needs to end the fight in the first two rounds and against Tate it's gonna be very hard...
