Luckily for Trump, the court cases related to Trump University have been pushed back until after the election. It probably won't be heard until sometime next year.

He's being accused of fraudulently taking the money of "students" and and operating without proper licensing.

For Trump supporters, does this bother you or effect how you view him as a candidate? How will you feel if he is found guilty of the accused crimes?

Please try to keep this thread civil. This is not a Trump bashing thread, right vs left, or a herp derp "but Hillary" thread either. Let's keep this on track.

Hmmmm, I'm no Lawyer but if the verdict was guilty would it be Trump personally or his company? If it was his company who knows who was responsible. But to answer your question yes if Trump was personally guilty of fraud my view of him would change.

I'm very surprised that the powers that be didn't expedite this to throw a wrench in his campaign. This tells me there is probably nothing to it. When were the charges filed?

It would be his company. You don't think the head of a company is responsible for a fraudulent product? The charges were filed in 2013 I believe.

Don't be silly. People are never going to change their opinion about Trump. The people who love him will continue to do so even if he went full OJ Simpson and people who hate him are going to hate him forever even if he found a cure for cancer.

That's fair enough. I think people have strongly formed pinions of him, allowing little wiggle room for change. Those that love him seem set in their ways, as do people that hate him. Good point.

Very cute thread, no one can tell what you're trying to do poorly.

Nevermind that he would never personally be convicted on this.

Awesome. Thanks for stopping by!

I'm not familiar with the story. Doesn't Trump own something like 500 companies? How personally involved was/is he in the management of this school?

I'd say that the potential conflict of interests relating to the fact that he has such an expansive business empire would be of more pertinent concern than the fact that one of his businesses hasn't done everything ethically.

My opinion of him would change if he was found innocent. I expect a biliionare land developer to be a crook.

Here's the thing I don't get: Trump University had 7,000 students, but only three of them are filing lawsuits?

Now, it doesn't sound like the seminars were well-run at all, but you'd think more students would be disgruntled if it was really a scam.

Obviously, he was insulated by the use of an LLC, but so are most fraudsters. It's important to note that in 2014, he was found personally responsible for the school.

In October 2014, a New York judge found Trump personally liable for operating the company without the required business license.

According to Wikipedia, he appeared in an infomercial for the school stating that he "handpicked" his students, which is obviously false. The content for the school had a lot of material, including videos of Trump personally giving lectures.

As far as I know that's the whole point of your company being a separate entity, to insulate the majority owner from culpability knowing they aren't running everything at all times.

Trump said he could shoot someone dead on the streets and his support wouldn't change. I believe him.

From what I understand, there were 3 separate lawsuits, not 3 just plaintiffs. The BBB downgraded Trump University to a D-, which wouldn't have occurred from only 3 claims.

Oh definitely. That's the purpose of an LLC. The plaintiffs would sue Trump's company and not Trump directly. However, that doesn't absolve one of wrong doing, it just insulates them from the backlash. If that makes any sense.

No trust me I understand. It doesn't imply he was responsible though that's why those are the laws. He has several companies, he may have been responsible for said decision, maybe not.

Do you think the plantiffs could be politically motivated?

The guy was bragging about his shitty steaks at his own press conference and used to sell them at fucking sharper image. He's a used car salesman at the ultra high level, so no shit his university was a fucking scam.

And now he is scamming shit kicker America, what a surprise. Walls and Muslims and insults and trotting his gorgeous daughter everywhere. And simpletons fall in line after 10+ years of grooming by right wing media propaganda.

Trump: "Make America great again"

Bernie: "Make America easy again"

Hillary: " Muaaaahahahahahaa what was the question?"
