A fighter like Derrick Lewis has nothing to win if he will surpass Tai this weekend , i mean ok, he might have a titleshot later this year but then again if he will be offered a fight in boxing that contains 1,500 000$ he will leave UFC.

So what is more and more UFC fightes will do the same including Francis? Sure you will just have one bout agreeement but at the same time you will make a name in boxing and you can then taking fights in Bellator or Rizin, do not forget Bare Knuckle FC.

That means Derrick could do boxing and fighting a random japanese heavyweight in NYE in Rizin or fighting Cheick Kongo. No need to fight for UFC.

i highly doubt Derrick Lewis draws a million dollar purse

No, this circus is coming to an end. There are only two Paul bros, and I can’t imagine serious boxers actually doing this shit. It’s just horrible for their legacies as pro boxers. And there’s only one Conor as well. Most UFC fighters are completely unknown outside of the sport.

I hope not. It reeks of desperation and makes MMA look like a bunch of broke bums begging for a payday... which it is, but it shows the world that and I gotta hear from boxing diehards of why their sport is better because of it.

Most if not all UFC fighters, specially over 30 would switch over to boxing in a heartbeat for foreseeable big paydays due to the shitty UFC pay system and the devaluation of the belts by the company itself who would rather go for media attention grabbing fighters who also do the promoting themselves. The infamous "money fights" model. What's the point in fighting for a legacy if you end up being broke or mistreated? If in the end it's only a money thing and a business, then act on your own interest and go where you can also make the best $ in whatever is left of your career. So, it mostly depends if there really is demand or not.

That means once Derricks contract is done with UFC he should do boxing or taking a fight in Rizin, they will see him as Gary Goodridge 2.0

No doubt Rizin can pay Derrick 500k

Dana needs to let these guys go try boxing because they would be humiliated and have to come crawling back to Uncle Fester. Derrick Lewis makes prime Butterbean look like fucking Ali when it comes to hand speed and agility.

Derrick doesn't have strong enough technique to do anything in boxing. Sorry but he just doesn't. Yes he has power but any HW boxer would pick him apart.

Should he leave the UFC for more money elsewhere, why not?

Of course we will.

But it will mostly be the guys who MMA doesnt really need or want anymore until the situation changes. Brought in to die. We will see what the Ngannou situation does.

mma boxers aren't boxers and eventually the inferior product is just going to get old.

Like Frank Mir and Jds?

After last weekend I’d love to see jack hermansson box! Face him off against canelo or Deontay wilder or little guy like nonito donair. Hell old Jackie boy could probably beat all three at once

I really hope not.

There is something really sad about watching a MMA fighter like Tyron Woodley box Jake Paul, someone who he could obliterate in an actual fight. It's like watching a lion fight except their teeth have been removed.

This circus is just about to start. Or rather continue.
It was a circus to begin with. And that's the funny part.

The Cross-Over Era won't last...

That balloon is already hemorrhaging air...

I mean if Francis fights Fury and makes a $10 million+ paycheck I don't see why not
