It seems to me the wise choice from the UFC would be to allow them to compete but as a neutral and not under the russian flag.

At the end of the day this will likely be moot anyway as the visa process will likely keep the russian fighters from fighting in most of the countries UFC run events in (except Dubai of course, but even events there are starting to exclude russians.

First of all the situation is way more complicated than "Russians bad" and there really is no clear bad guy. Both sides bear some responsibility for the innocent lives being lost right now.

And other than the US, Russia is probably the most important MMA country. Empty virtue signalling would cost the UFC way more. In terms of condemming people for things one quick litmus test is not to make permanent enemies over temporary situations.

For example i ignore all like minded political folks who are making fools of themselves with anti vaxx stuff. While I've lost respect for there will come a day they won't care about anti vax stuff in a post covid world and it doesn't make sense to drop people over something that will blow over. You condemm and sever ties people over permanent differences.

This. Plain and simple, this. And in a smaller fashion, their fan base could care less about their stance on it. The same can absolutely not be said for the major sports leagues. Let’s also remember the NHL has many Russian players but they play every night and have way more screen time on major sporting outlets than the UFC does. And they have all had to make a comment, generally denouncing it. The ufc gets one night a month (a ppv) where a major sports outlet MIGHT even show a Q&A with a Russian athlete

There is no such thing as apolitical. When you take pictures holding hands with dictators or claim that Macron deserves to be punished by God, that is not an apolitical stance.

To be clear: I don't want them to be cancelled or whatever, it's just that I find amusing that some guys like these two (Dana and Khabib) pride themselves in being opinionated, but then they suddenly know when not to express their views on certain things. I know Dana is all about business, but a man who supposedly only opperates on integrity and values like Khabib... he's just so hypocritical and fake that it actually is funny.
