He says he wants to make the most money he can. This makes sense, but I don't understand is how the UFC are willing to let him go and sign with Bellator?

How can Bellator pay more when the UFC is miles ahead in terms of revenue generated?

He put up an amazing fight against Lawler and a lot of people are looking forward to seeing him take on Wonderboy.

If he gets through Wonderboy, don't expect him to go anywhere as the UFC will do anything to keep him around. If he loses, let him go over to Bellator and kick Bendo's ass for the WW title.

He should if he loses (Wonderboy is gonna get the title-shot for sure if that happens). UFC WW-division is packed and Rory, while still very young, probably feels that he does not want to do this forever, because the body has to take plenty of damage (Lawler broke his nose in 7 different places last time). Lawler also proved later that he can put on very entertaining fights with other fighters then Rory. So why not try to milk the sport for the most money. He is probably very critical to the Reebok-deal too, even if will not talk about it. He could easily be the bellator champ and earn much more money there. I would advise him to go there, if they are willing to pay him much more!
 
Nothing has been confirmed, he basically didn't renew his contract before this one expires. It seems to be the best way to get the best offer at the moment.

There is no way that the UFC allow Rory to leave, he is one of the best fighters in the full promotion. He will be offered from all major organisations and the UFC will then pay him some real money and he will stay.

as much as I love bendo, rory is a horrible matchup for him, and I can't see him winning, even though I'll root for him.
 
They think Wonderbread will KO Rory so he won't have leverage.

That's why he's fighting Rory instead of Lawler.

Maybe, the Benson Henderson move has increased the pressure for the UFC for sure.
 
When guys are up and coming and offer a lot of promise the UFC will back them unconditionally but Rory is a special case because he has no personality. He failed to capture the title so the UFC has to say well this guy is going to get harder and harder to sell if he does not have the belt. What did Dana tell Ben Henderson when he wanted more money or his was leaving, Dana told him win the championship back and they would get him the money. The reason he said that is because Ben is not an easy sell with or without the belt. So they either take a pay cut or take the train. What is really sad is Carlos Condit told the UFC my phone is on call me meaning either a title shot or rematch or he is done but little does he know they are thinking the same thing about him. You can only make super star money if your a super star
