Will new ghostbusters be the death of reboots/remakes?

Gleaming the Cube is scheduled for right after the reboots of Rad and The Wizard.
That would fail hard. Christian Slater was practically bred to play that role. Even his name sounds like a skateboarders. But I could see it. Played by a 30 year old with ripped muscles and models looks. Over the top CGI stunts and no plot or story other than hunk rides skateboard and beats up badguys.

Reboots and remakes will never end. Mad Max was hella dope. So was True Grit.

Now I they would only reboot the series "Reboot".

I was just fucking talking about highlander!

I've never seen it and wondered how it compared to other 80s actions.

Dude, it is 80 cheese awesomeness. If you love 80's movies, you will love it. Not a ton of action, but its Highlander so lots of swordplay and the villiam the Kurgan, played by Clancy Brown is an all time great. My only complaint would be the fight choreographer could have been better. The show was equally epic (though the 1st season has some really bad episodes scattered), and Adrian Paul was much better with a sword.

In defense of MadMax. It was written and directed by the same guy who did all the Mad Max movies. Which help explains why it was awesome. This Ghostbusters movie would have probably been decent if Harold Ramis and the crew all wrote it.

Also Mad Max Fury Road was a continuation of the series and not a reboot

not sure if true, but i heard there is a reboot of the hunger games in the works

Remakes are fine as long as the movie being remade sucks.

The problem is Hollywood seems to think remaking classic/amazing movies is a great idea.

It's totally true. They are also remaking the reboot of Harry Potter. If you hadn't heard they are rebooting to make it more American with an urban setting, and Harry will be a girl. And they recently confirmed that the remake of that reboot will come out before the actual reboot does, making a reboot paradox..

To be fair I don't think True Grit was a remake, just a film based on a book that had already been adapted once and doesn't really take anything from the John Wayne film unlike say Total Recall that claimed to be another book adaptation but was really just a remake of the Arnie film.

The big problem with a lot of this stuff IMHO is that its not actually aimed at big fans of the original, Fury Road clearly was coming from the same director who put years into it but stuff like this Ghostbusters, Star Trek or The Force Awakens is more aimed at people with distant nostalgic memories of these films or youngster who wish they had such memories. They don't need to be great cinema to be successful they just need to push the right buttons to keep the widest possible range of people entertained for 2 hours.

The sad thing is look at the box office and its Fury Road that performed by far the worst of that lot.

I just don't pay attention to them, never saw the Robocop remake or Total Recall and whatever. I just don't care, seeing it knowing you're not going to like it and then complaining about it makes ya seem like an old back in my day grandpa.

It's whatever, some asshole is always gonna attempt a remake or way too late or unneeded sequel.
