Will Khamzat try to take Usman down instantly?

I'm kinda hoping to see Khamzat close the distance right away and try to grapple.

If Usman can get the action standing up against the cage, he has shown some really good body striking...

Khamzat is nothing like Woodley, but I think if Usman can get that body work going early while those takedown attempts are happening it could be a big thing.

I mean his fight history suggests that he likes to go for the takedown within the first 15-20 seconds, Rhys mckees 5 seconds, John Phillips 5 seconds, Li Jingliang 4 seconds, Gilbert Burns 8 seconds, Kevin Holland 2 seconds hahah, only fight he didn't attempt it early against was GM3.

Will he do what he did against Holland? It's a great strategy against strikers since you will most likely either get the takedown or make your opponent defend which is obviously exhausting.

But... Kamaru Usman is not Kevin Holland. And he has also shown a great gas tank.
IDK if i have a point here , just wondering what you think Chimaev will try and do.

(P.S. Im not sold on Khamzats gas tank either) I think he tires within 2 rounds because of how he fights.
yes I think so.

I would really like for Khamzat to come out blasting. Like his challenge was to finish this fight in under 2 minutes.
Not that I want him to, but would be exciting to see.

he'll take him down and....STOMP ON HIS HEAD AS HE'S UNCONSCIOUS

I think he may try. The reason he didn't with Burns was because he was scared of staying on the ground with him, so he only wrestled when Burns was getting the better of the striking.

Usman presents no real submission threat. His grappling consists of holding position and the occasional bit of GnP.

Whether Khamzat is successful at grappling Usman or not I don't know, but I do think he will try to.

Most likely he will, because that's his style. He tries to start fast and quickly overwhelm his opponent. It has worked most of the time except against Burns, and I don't think it will work against a high level and experienced wrestler like Usnan. We saw against Burns that if you can survive that early onslaught, then Khamzat will likely tire quickly,. So, this could be an advantage for Usman. However, his gas tank might be suspect as well given the short camp.

I expect him to try. Maybe he’ll throw a strike instead?

But, yes. I expect him to go for the TD immediately. Drilling that Masvidal knee on Askren could pay off.. Who knows?

go right for double leg
