Will Jon Jones take down Daniel Cornier?

IMO Jones will easily outstrike and outgrapple Cormier to a UD victory.

If he manages to punish Cormier enough, I think a late TKO. When he takes Cormier down, he will have multiple opportunities for a submission or hellbows gnp.

Doesn't matter how it ends, I predict a dismantling of Cormier.

Jon Jones has always beat guys at their strengths, he decided to outwrestle Chael, get in close with Glover, strike with Vitor and Shogun.

I think he will prove a point and take down DC, and beat him up there.

He'd have a hell of a time taking DC down, a snowballs chance at keeping him there, and no chance at all of holding him there on his back.

Has anyone taken DC down yet? I don't mean in the UFC, but overall in his career? I could see Jones doing it, but with the huge reach advantage he has over Cormier, I just see him picking him from the outside and not letting DC in. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan and I'm rooting for DC to win, just being realistic.

He will take down Cormier at least once, but Cormier will still win.

Dan is hard as hell to take down I remember Rashad saying to his corner in there fight "I can't take him down he's too strong"

I don't think he'll even try it. Jones has that one two eye poke down to a science now. He'll use that to maintain range until DC closes said range, pins him up against the cage then ragdolls him worse than he did to Hendo. It's not going to be a fun night for fans of Jonny Bones.

I can't wait.

I'm inclined to agree.

I generally talk about this fight like it's a pick'em...

But if I'm honest with how I actually feel about it in my core, I think DC has this.

Jones couldn't take Rashad down, so I don't think he'll be able to take down DC.

um jon jones only attempted 2 takedowns against rashad and got one of them. Rashad was 0 for 4 against jones.

I doubt the gameplan will involve taking him down. Bones came in with some flat-out scary wrestling/GnP and that was his M.O., but he seems to be going away from that in his more recent fights. He seems confident that he can strike with anyone in the division, and so far he hasn't been proven wrong.

I think Cormier is a better wrestler than Glover, Rashad, or Gus were, and Bones wasn't able to land any GnP of note on any of them. Even when he has taken guys down, it's been with pretty straight-ahead power singles or doubles than those unorthodox clinch throws and trips that he was ragdolling everyone with, and I don't see the former being able to work against Cormier.

Bottom line: I think Cormier needs a TD in this fight much more than Jones does, and I think the Jones camp is thinking the same thing. I'd love to see the throws/trips come back if Cormier tries to close distance, because those were really fun, but the way Bones has been fighting for the past few years I think he'll just try to kickbox.

Jon Jones will probably try it to prove a point but will fail miserably. Cormier will be one landing take downs left and right.

uh, no

Childish mang. Take it seriously if you're gonna have 12k posts, or else what's the point?

The pot calling the kettle black..

You did everything you accused him of doing yourself.

Jones will take Cormier down if the opportunity presents itself he's a great wrestler as well. This will be Jones greatest test to date though and he very well could lose.

I'm surprised nobody posted the gif of laughing cormier, which is what he'll do when Jones tries to wrestle with him.

I can see Jones winning the fight but those of you saying he will take DC down or outwrestle him are making me laugh. Those of you saying that have no idea what you are talking about.

Wow, an intelligent post in this thread... I'm amazed

Jones has got this easy, he is not gonna take it to the ground, he is gonna pick cormier apart, gus was a harder fight and gus v jones 2 will be better than jones v cormier.

cormier gonna get a rude suprise methinks.

Jones will take him down in some point of the fight.
