At first i thought the Jackson move was good. That was until i found out that training there these days doesnt mean much unless you're a big name.

Best he gets is training with couple of high level guys. But really he could have done that in Florida and found better.

As a perry fan, i hope this was a good move

I'm guessing he's getting better at wrestling/grappling while there. I know he loves to bang, but it's MixedMA.

How much bigger of a name can you get than platinum mike perry gtfo ts

Dumping his ex is what's going to take him to the next level not training with Frank who da fook Lester. He was being coached by a D-level tennis player no wonder he wasn't improving.

Frank Lester hasn’t made any real contributions to the sport in any way, shape, or form.

So no, Frank holding pads and riding Jackson’s coattails aren’t going to do anything for Perry.

Not training at an UFC Gym will pay dividends soon enough.

Lester is an egg.

I know you dont have to be a good fighter to be a good coach, but you have to atleast have knowledge and understanding of the game. Maybe Lester has trained under greats or done something we're not aware of

His wrestling wasn’t even that bad, really. Not that we know much considering he is matched only with strikers.

I don’t want to fighter bash, so I’ll put it like this...I don’t think Perry is a genius. He strikes me as someone who lacks the IQ to formulate strategy. He’s a tough, physically gifted guy who fights purely on emotion. Could you imagine if he slowed down a little, relaxed, picked his shots, concentrated on countering, and employed at least a fraction more strategy than just “KO my opponent with power hooks”?

Diego has been at Jackson’s his whole career, and he never got improved beyond a rigid striker with telegraphed movement who shot in for doubles again and again and again.

Sometimes it’s more about what you’re capable of learning than who’s teaching you.

Hes that turkey from TUF9? IIRC he was very tough but otherwise very mediocre

His ex girfried told him great advise: Push him against the cage (when he did it, it worked great), throw combos instead of loading up on one punch at a time (always solid advice to any fighter whole is throwing one punch at a time),. throw leg kicks (they were landing clean). If your corner gives you three good pieces of advice; that's great for a fight.

That’s what I was thinking, he didn’t have a successful mma career, so what’s special about him exactly? Surprised to hear that name after all these years.

His striking will get worse, his grappling will get better

His striking was shit, he will be a gatekeeper this point forward

Why are people hating on Lester ,looks like his getting perry to use some angles instead of just trying to walk down opponents

this is such an under discussed point-

cant emphasize enough how accurate this post is...
to me it kind of pulls the covers on @spannered -

im certain he either trains, coaches, or is at least the very rare fan who has a complete understanding of MMA
(but my guess is that he's fought himself) normal fans, much less the average Sherdog poster will understand this, much less post it.

its a great observation.
