Will Blaydes' wrestling be too much for Jailton?

Jailton's wrestling has been good so far, and obviously his BJJ is superb, but Blaydes heavier, bigger and his positioning is very good.

I don't think Almeida is better striker than Blaydes either.

If Almeida SOMEHOW puts Blaydes on his back, he will probably submit him or stop him with strikes eventually - but if he's on the bottom, I don't see him applying any of them subs on Blaydes.

Depends largely on whether he tries to use it or not. The way he’s been fighting lately, he’ll probably love his hands too much, get rocked by Almeida, then get taken down and subbed before he gets his wits about him enough to employ defensive wrestling.

Short answer, yes.
I can't see Jailton taking Blades down. Blades KO's him imo, he's like Jailton's kryptonite.

Jailton got rocked too a couple of times, it's not like he's impenetratable. And Blaydes can be surprisingly good at striking offense, especially if an opponent allows him to find the range

K1 Blaydes will come out and find a way to lose. Curtis has a ton of talent but always seems to find ways to lose fights he probably should win.

I really haven’t seen enough of Jailton to confidently predict his run, especially at HW. He’s looked very promising so far though

Jailton might be able to takedown Blaydes. It's HW. They tend to lose their wrestling ability as they age due to bumps and injuries. Jailton is around the same age but he is very athletic. The only issue is that he isn't a real HW.

Man I wish I could share your sentiment. I just don't know how more times I can say that Curtis is going to take somebody down and pound on them. If anything I see this being one of the sloppiest stand up fights in recent memory where the winner will most likely land a sloppy over hand then hit a takedown to finish.

Haha, Blades has good hands, it's Jailton that's sloppy on the feet imo from what I've seen. It will stay standing except for clinching a lot imo.

TBH not being a real HW had never been an issue in HW division, especially wrestling-wise.

Funny thing is - all 3 HW champions in three biggest MMA companies are LHW wrestlers.

The other companies don't have real HWs though. Jailton's BJJ isn't unbeatable. He had a few submission competitions. He has a little problem submitting middleweights and he even got summited by one.

What do you mean no real HWs? Moldavsky, Kongo, Tim Johnson, Amir, Bhullar, Grishenko are on UFC level all right

If they keep it standing I can see Blaydes getting tagged and lately he doesn't want to use his grappling skills.

If Blaydes uses his wrestling I can see it being too much. I think Blaydes is the better grappler.

I had high hopes for Blaydes at some point, but I think he gambled away all his chances. Almeida is hungry and on a tear. I think he takes it.

Blaydes matches up very well with Jailton, but my god he might have some of the worst fight IQ in MMA.
I'm still favoring Blaydes, however I don't trust his in fight decision making enough to be super confident in that pick.

I don't know if Blaydes for sure beats him in the stand up but I don't think Almeida will be able to take him down as easily as others. Blaydes has a decent chance at winning but his fight iq at times is very sus which probably will be the deciding factor.

Why is this fight so far away? Feels like it got made forever ago and we have to wait to see Jaliton in November

Nobody knows much about Jailton's striking, so anybody is just guessing at what the fight will look like.

Blaydes has been taken down 4 times on only 6 attempts in his UFC career, and Jailton is by far the best grappler he's faced....

Interesting matchup for sure

This is a real test for almeida. His rozenstruik win was nice and all but we’ve known for a while rozenstruiks ground and take down defence isn’t there. He’s also kind of short for a Hw despite being heavy. Blaydes has the height of a real HW, the weight, and is a grappling specialist while being experienced against the top level Hw’s. If jailton can pass this test he belongs
