It just occurred to me that someone that wants to set up their own business needs to save up for like a decade. Then make a business plan. Then get a loan from a bank using their decade of savings as collateral. That takes a looooong time. So, the small businesses that all got shut down aren't getting replaced by new small businesses any time soon.

Meanwhile, big chains and franchises already have their business model made. They have access to lines of capital. They can just swoop in to the empty buildings and set up shop 1 week after everyone is vaccinated the pandemic is over.

Are all the bars going to be replaced by big corporate sports bars and stuff? Restaurants replaced by franchise restaurants?

We don't need businesses. We need safety! The safety of the world is in staying indoors! All we need is online ordering. I prefer that all of our communication is through proprietary channels owned by the same interlocking companies that make more money out of our isolation!

This is how we stay safe in the long run!

This is going to sound selfish, but I lost a few neighbourhood businesses to this bullshit.
Can’t imagine how hard it was for them. All these giant conglomerate stores can eat a dick.
I’ll keep buying local as much as I can. But even they’re probably buying overseas lol.

Just fucking start making stuff in America again.

Mom and pops are gone. Darden Restaurants will take their place

There's already entire towns that are just a Wal Mart with an in-house bank, hair cutter, pharmacy, a GP doctor at the pharmacy, a McDonalds, a gas station, and a poor accountant guy that does your taxes inside of a little booth in front of the cash registers. Only thing left is the town restaurant. Lol if that gets replaced by Darden.

Yes they will all be gone. Same with bars.

How large night clubs will survive will be interesting. I imagine many will have new buyers but clubs will still exist. Just like festivals will be back.
