Aldo got flatlined by Conor brutally but even before that his chin was praised. Edgar showed power we haven't seen from him in years against Chad but most would agree Chads chin was probably not recovered from the war vs Mcgregor. Will Aldo coming back 7 months later be enough recovery time from the KO?

One knockout in a career is not enough for me to think that Frankie Edgar might "crack" a chin.

I think Aldo could wait a bit longer tbh

A KO like that is enough to crack a veteran chin and confidence.

I think Aldo will be shy like Mendes was, Edgar will connect a 1 2 and it will be over.

You're kidding right?

Running into a punch =/= a cracked chin
Doesn't matter how strong your chin is, if you explode forward into a counter shot with your eyes closed you're going to be flatlined.

Edgar is hungry
Aldo might be broken

I think Edgar wins the decision but I'm rooting for Aldo.

I feel the exact same way. Their first fight was close too. I hope Aldo channels his inner GSP against Serra 2 though

I think Aldo clearly won the first fight but it was a close fight. Aldo will fight like his usual self and be patient and wait for his openings. It's unfortunate one of these guys won't be able to fight for the title. God forbid it ends in a draw.

Yea the UFC screwed the pooch on this one for sure. They are losing a fight at 145 by making this fight, fucking ridiculous

Well, they're not really losing a fight cause Conor wants to be a champ without defending the belt. If he manages to beat the winner of this fight, he will try to fight another champ again and avoid another defense. And the UFC will allow it.

It's just the wrong time to fight FE, he is possessed with the title/McGregor, Aldo doesn't stand a chance in this one.

Poor Aldo, looked kinda done in his last fight were Edgar looked better than ever.
Love both guys look forward to the fight

If aldos chin holds up, he just needs to come in with bettrr cardio and he can outpoint edgar

LOL i just watched your jon jones transformer gif.... too funnny

Its impossible to say his chin is cracked right now.

It depends on whether, and how, Frankie KO's him if we're even going to have that discussion.

Plenty of people have been KO'd and then came back and were still able to take shots.

Being KO'd by Conor isn't the best way to determine if somebody's chin is cracked and won't ever be the same, the guy has KO'd pretty much everybody he's ever fought. The punch Conor put Aldo down with wasn't really a powerful punch, we all know Conor hits extremely hard, but the punch that put Aldo away was just perfect placement and timing.

It doesn't seem like the kind of punch that will fuck your chin up for future fights, the kind of punch that does that is usually an insanely hard one that puts you out, not one like what Conor landed. We don't really know though, maybe it did 'crack' his chin, we'll have to see in his next fight, that's the only way we'll know because there's no proof of it right now, so there's no point in talking about this at all.

In my opinion, the kind of KO that will 'crack' your chin is like what Rashad did to Chuck. Chuck's chin was already deteriorating and he was knocked out by Rampage a few fights before, but Chuck was still eating hard shots after that fight and staying in it. Against Rashad, Chuck's chin was just completely finished right then and there.

Rashad didn't really crack his chin, he completely broke it, Chuck's chin was finished that night and he was put down in every single fight after. What Rashad did, that's the kind of punch that will fuck your chin up for good. That's one of the most brutal knockouts in combat sports history, in my opinion, you don't normally see people land punches like THAT. That shit was just horrifying. Seriously one of the scariest punches to have ever landed in combat sports, it really is. I honestly consider that KO even more brutal than what Hendo did against Bisping, it looked so nasty. It looked like the punch broke his f'n neck..

Jose's chin was praised and rightfully so, he took huge shots in Lamas, Hominick and Mendes II. His second fight with Mendes was probably the most competitive fight he has had, he was dropped and he was in pretty bad shape after the fight.

When you say "Edgar showed power we haven't seen from him in years" I presume you mean, we've been watching him for years and he's never had that power? Well, I think FW is a different ball game for him. He's really beaten BJ and Swanson up, with prolonged, heavy shots. The KO over Mendes was sweet, and definitely his crowning moment. The guy has finished Gray with strikes, totally knocked the guy dead with that barrage at the end of their 3rd fight - he also dropped Benson Henderson!

I used to think Frankie had powder puff punches, but I'm starting to think I was wrong.

I think Aldo's time off is definitely going to help his case in terms of chin stabilization, but we just won't know until he gets cracked clean again. I think this will be a great fight - even though I'm not happy it's happening.

I think Edgar wins, and I would say a decision, 4-1. Jose always gasses in rounds 4-5 in his fights, so you can pretty much guarantee if Frankie's still conscious by then, he's favorite to pick up the late ones. What I love about this, is could you have any 2 hungrier versions of these future MMA legends? Aldo is going to be DYING, to get back to Conor! and Frankie the same, want's to crash the party!

Love Jose, but warming to Frankie - so very tough for me to cheer either guy!

Aldo will be fine. He usually has great defense and i doubt he will throw his chin out there like he did vs Conor. He is still more skilled then Frankie and he should take the win again
