Why would Diaz v Conor at 155lbs be any different ?

Just curious what advantage Conor would have at 155lbs over Diaz given that's Diaz natural weight class. People have brought up the bogus size difference, but not a single thread or post explaining what advantage Conor would have at 155lbs v Diaz.

Maybe Conor doesn't get rocked? I don't know. It was a pretty even fight until that point. It wouldn't be different in the sense that the weight played a factor, but if they fought 10 times who knows how many each win

If it's a rematch it should be different. If Conor tried the same exact approach after getting merc'd the first time he'd have to be a complete idiot. I don't believe he is that. I'd give the edge to Nate in the rematch though he doesn't finish a lot of top fighters so it could be a decision.

Steak Connie was a myth.

Salad Connie would still get tapped/TKO'd by Diaz. It's a horrible matchup for Connie.

they would both weigh less, outcome would be pretty similar.
except if Nate had more than 10 days, then Conor wouldn't make it out of the 1st round i guess.

If they fought at 155 they would both be 170 on fight night anyway. The only difference is Conor would be facing a more prepared Nate and he'd get his ass kicked again.

Nates got more heart, so the weight between the 2 of them matters very little.

At 196 it wouldn't have made a difference. Conor would have gone headhunting like hell with no regard for pacing no matter the weight and the end result would have been the same. Goat chin Diaz could take everything he threw, while he couldn't take being exposed to Diaz's strikes as he was looking for the knockout and getting slower and sloppier with each passing second.

Whether Conor in the future comes out with alterations to his game that make it adaptable to fighters that won't keel over in one remains to be seen.

Because Nate ends it in the 1st round, not the 2nd

Nate is just bad stylistically for Conor. Granite chin, rolls with punches very well, great boxing, amazing jiu jitsu and ridiculous cardio.

I don't see how Conor wins this one. He's not stopping Nate, and Nate's cardio will prevent Conor from earning a decision. Assuming it's a 5 rounder. 3 rounds, I could see Conor with a good gameplan earning a decision win.

Yeah, it'd be different because it would mean Nate had had a full camp with plenty of sparring to tune up his cardio, rhythm and timing.

First of all, I have to laugh at all the people suggesting Conor "got his ass kicked". If anything, Nate took a serious beating and at the tail end of the fight rallied back and submitted Conor. Even in defeat, Conor did more damage and controlled more of the fight.

In a rematch i would pick Conor in that he would likely keep his hands up this time and show more respect and caution, fighting smarter and winning.

I'm not convinced there would be a meaningful difference.

Maybe Conor has improved cardio without carrying the extra weight. Maybe Nate is drained from the cut. Maybe. But in the real world they fought and Nate won.

It showed 1) this is why there are weight classes in combative sports and 2) McGOAT needs to tighten up aspects of his game and be less predictable with his striking offense.

A few thoughts..

Ive already explained the difference in just about every new threqd recently, so im not going to do that here..

But i will say this. 155 is Diaz unnatural weight class. He looks emaciated at 155.

If by "rolls with punches very well" you mean he takes shots on the chin very well, then yeah. Nate has zero head movement, he's just tough.
