He just trained and fought, and took no damage, so he should be ready to go at 155...I dont think they care for each other much either. Unless he was offered it and turned it down...Also, you have many other top 155ers as well, who couldve stepped in for this big fight...

Or am I missing something by them giving Nate the fight at 170? I mean Nate is 2-3 in his last 5 fights...It willl be good for Conor either way though. See how he looks at 170 coming in light...Hopefully Conor KO/TKOs Nate in the first, and calls it a night....

Dana offered the fight to Cerrone, which he accepted, but the UFC brass ultimately decided on Diaz.

Giving mcgregor the easiest possible fight with the biggest name.

They have 10 days to drum up extra interest from those that don't have that much interest in the UFC.

Who is going to drum up more interest?

A guy that'll just sit and say "Conor talks shit" "I'ma whoop his ass" and not really take much note of his talk.

Or a man that'll be screaming about how he's going to murder McGregor 5 minutes into the first press conference, as well as responding to all McGregor's shit?

This. If Dana wasn't protecting Conor he would have given him anyone of Khabib, Ferguson, Pettis or Cerrone.

They've chosen Diaz - a one dimensional guy with no real power who sells. The most disappointing choice behind choosing Faber IMO.

Do you have a source? Or is this what you've put together from all the info?

Not trying to call you out, just honestly wondering... I'm not on twitter/facebook/social media, so I get most my mma news here.

What's the difference? Conor does the same thing to either lad.

Nate sells this fight better. He has a win over Cerrone and talks better shit.

Probably because Nate talks shit and isnt too big of a threat to Conor. A little weird tho how a bunch if 155'ers offered to take the fight and they opted for the guy who could only make it at 170.

RDA easily beat Cerrone. Conner probably has no interest in fighting him. Nate also easily beat Cerrone.

Because he was annihilated in less than a round by RDA. Because fighting at 170lbs against an opponent that didn't just fight and is fresher than Cowboy is the more difficult fight. UFC are not in the business of making easy fights like Cowboy for Conor.

I honestly dont think that Cowboy would ever turn down a fight

This is possibly the only chance of Diaz/Mcgregor. I think that played a huge part in this decision.

No all the others have had proper camp. Diaz is short notice. That's a big factor in the equation.

I'd say the UFC brass got cold feet on Cerrone folding to a body shot. I mean the way McGregor attacks the body, I think that fight would end similar to Pettis v Cerrone. Diaz, is also more than willing to play the "talking game" all day which will help to build the fight on short notice. The Press Conference between these two will be epic.

rda also completely outclassed nate.

Nate lasted all three rounds. Cowboy lasted one minute and six seconds.

Diaz has won 11/18 fights by submission. Considering he prefers to stand & trade, it's not exactly one dimensional.
