I mean, Anderson is a legend, like it or not.

Hall is just a good but forgettable fighter. And he is old.

Am I missing something here?

I'd expect Uriah to go rabbit in the headlights like usual, though.

It's a loser leaves town match. Whoever loses is getting force retired/ cut.
 
Hall was an up and comer at the time, both were physically similar, exiting and explosive and I think they thought Hall might have been a future prospect for them. So at the time it seemed like a good idea.
