Why was Hunt chosen for Lesnar?

Although Dana is a big fan of Hunt I think Hunt is being led to the slaughter. The UFC are hoping Brock wins imo.
Lesnar had to fight a name fighter for a comeback fight, one that didn't appear too easy. I think the 'powers that be' believe Brock will beat Hunt.
While I'd love Hunt to win I can't see him doing it, Brock is too big and fast.

If Hunt does win though it'll be one more of 'Dana's pets' that loses.
 
He was the only top10 guy without a schedule fight?

They can't make Lesnar fight some random fat can like Dada 5000

I think Mir would have been the first option, but he got popped
Almost every other top 15 HW fighter is either:
  • Booked already or

  • Would completely outclass Brock or
  • Is not a recognizable name
Hunt was the safest and most obvious choice

He was booked Vs Bigfoot.

But with the way the fight went.
Yes He could have taking it.
But butthurt would have complain and cry that was an easy fight for Brock

Definitely not injured because he smashed Big Foot in a few seconds

Maybe they thought Hunt is more marketable, I dont know
There's also Struve's jiu jitsu, Brock probably didn't want to get choked out when he goes for the inevitable take down
 
I think they wanted a top ten striker, And Hunt was available.

Of course it could be Reasons why they let Brock avoid USADA, why they chose an opponent that looked like shit on his back In his last fight, And someone that is over fourty.

I still think it was a mistake if they want Brock to win.
 
Hunt is the go to man. He always brings a war. Hunto heavyweight champion 2017.

Of course the UFC wants Brock to win because that means big $$$

But Brock is the one being sacrificed here, if anyone
 
They want to keep Brock fighting Samoans so they can build him in a WWE match with Samoans like Roman Reigns or The Rock at Wrestlemania.

Lol but seriously, imo because Hunt is a very game fighter, clearly a fan favorite, and he puts on exciting fights and memorable/badass moments every time.

I'm thinking it's because he was the guy in the top 10 that Brock has the best chance to beat/be competitive with.

He's improved drastically but Hunt still doesn't like being on his back and that's where Brock wants to put him.

Hunt shines on the feet and that's where Brock is weak. It makes the fight interesting and there's a potential for each guy to end up in their worst position.

I like the match up, not only cause I can watch hunt fight. But, this fight is great for Brock if he wins, he beat a top 10 guy, and can choose to return if he wishes. If he loses, it will likely be to KO via Mark Hunt's fist to the face - leaving lesnar with a acceptable loss to the walk off king. I don't think people will shit on him is Lesnar looses because people understand what Hunt can do. Its a great person to take a loss to, and if he wins, he keeps the door open for the future. Win/Win
 
It basically guarantees violence.


Reading some of these comments you'd think Brock was favourite.
 
I think Hunt was the perfect choice. People like Overeem, JDS or Stipe would just beat the crap out of Brock, no question about it. Others, like Bigfoot for instance, would be the other way around. With Hunt, who really knows?

Of course the ufc wants Brock to win. It would open the door to future fights. Hunt was chosen because he's a striker and his wrestling is awful. They are confident Brock can take him down and maul him.
