Why was Edson Barboza letting Melendez of the hook in the last 2 minutes?

Anyone who thinks Barboza "almost got knocked out" needs either their eyesight or their brain function checked. He got hurt, but nowhere near going out or being in danger of it.
 
He does that all the time he is wining the round but he decides to back off and let the other guy pressure him without even throwing strikes, it does look bad like he just does not want to fight anymore and he just waits for the round to end

As people have said, Gilbert rocked him a couple times in the fight so it was smart to play it a bit safe at the end. He put in a great performance.

People saying things like "it's not even debatable" when it comes to subjective opinions are like people saying "literally" when they make figurative statements.
 
Its what a fighter has to decide is best for him. If you finish opponents you will more likely be labeled as an exciting fighter and get a title shot quicker but obviously if you lose then it back fires.

I don't think he is a champion in the making, but "killer instinct" never was and never will be a trait of a champion. Maybe these three letters rings something inside your head, GSP.

If yourae fan of mma and hate pride your opinion doesn't mean a whole bunch.
If yourae knowledge fan who watched at the time you would reakize the product we have is watered down from the rules to the cards from what it was.

Literally the only way Gil could have won is a big punch in an exchange, Barboza didn't want to give it to him.
